Following the Christmas and New Year festivities, many people may have put on a few calories. When it comes to fertility, having an optimal weight and BMI can help, so January often sees people heading to the gym.

However, rather than pushing yourself to the max, it might be more beneficial if you exercise moderately.

A 2022 study of the long-term health of over 116,000 US adults found that the benefits of vigorous physical activity for cardiovascular health tailed off at high levels, unlike for moderate-intensity activity.

So having the "tortoise rather than a hare" approach can help shift calories and reduce BMIs.
