NEW Support Service launched for Leicestershire County Residents!

Our ADHD Parent/Carer Support Service has been commissioned by Leicestershire County Council and is for families living in the boroughs and districts in the County (not the City of Leicester or Rutland). Parents and Carers of young people under 19 can get support at any stage of their child or young person's ADHD journey - whether they are just starting to consider whether their child may have ADHD, if they are on an assessment waiting list or if they have been diagnosed. Families who are not seeking a diagnosis are welcome.

Family life can be challenging! Our workshops aim to help families understand more about ADHD and how they can apply this knowledge to real life struggles so they can thrive. Our monthly peer support groups encourage families to connect with others on their ADHD journey.

You don't need to be referred by a professional, you can register for support as a parent. Follow this link to find out more about each element of the service, to register for a workshop or join our mailing list to be the first to hear more.

We would be ever so grateful for likes and shares of this post so we can make sure it reaches the families who might benefit. 💚

As part of White Ribbon Day, and the following 16 days of activism, we are highlighting the work of local organisations who support victims of gender-based violence.

Women’s Aid Leicestershire is a registered charity supporting victims and survivors, both women and men, and their children, who are experiencing domestic abuse. They provide flexible and safe accommodation for victims and their families; support for children and young people and outreach support for male victims, experiencing domestic abuse, in Leicestershire.

Need help but are worried about coming forward? This is what Women's Aid Leicestershire Limited say;

“It takes a lot of courage to talk to someone when it comes to abuse and a lot of strength to come forward, which can take time. It is NOT OK to feel scared in a relationship - you deserve to be treated with respect and love.

“You may be in a difficult situation where you feel you cannot talk to anyone. If you are unsure and want to ask a simple question, it is OK to do so. There is no judgement in this. It is OK to ask questions even if you just want advice.”

You can contact them for help and support in a number of ways;

As part of White Ribbon Day, and the following 16 days of activism, we are highlighting the work of local organisations who support victims of gender-based violence.

The Zinthiya Trust is a Leicester based charity dedicated to supporting women and children who are escaping domestic abuse. They offer support to those experiencing, or at risk of, all types of abuse including psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional.

Need help but are worried about coming forward? This is what the Zinthiya Trust say;

"We can understand why women can feel hesitant to get help —it takes a lot of courage to reach out, especially when you’re already feeling vulnerable and scared. Just know that Zinthiya Trust is here to help, without judgment and at your pace. We offer a safe, confidential space where you can talk openly without pressure to make any decisions immediately. We will provide support in your preferred language where possible.”

"You don’t have to do this alone. Just taking that first step to reach out, even for a quick conversation, is an incredible show of strength.”

You can contact them for help and support in a number of ways;

❌ Autism is NOT caused by Paracetamol.

The US Government's report suggesting a link between the use of Paracetamol (Tylenol) in pregnancy is poorly conducted and suggests weak evidence, spreading misinformation and unnecessary fear and risk to pregnant people.

Here's the truth:

💜 Autism is not caused by painkillers or vaccines.
💜 Autism is not a condition that needs to be cured.
💜 Autism is not caused by emotional deprivation or upbringing.

Nothing you do - or don't do - "causes" your child to be autistic. Autistic differences need to be accepted and understood - not cured.

At Caudwell Children, we follow sound science and would like to advise all pregnant people to continue to follow the advice of the NHS and their health professionals. If you have any questions or concerns, please consult your GP.
