Home Care vs. Care Home: What Families in Leicestershire Need to Know.

One of the biggest decisions families face is: do we move mum or dad into a care home, or can they stay at home?

Here's something worth knowing

Studies show that older adults who remain at home are up to 30% less likely to experience cognitive decline compared to those who move into residential care prematurely.

Staying home means:
1. Familiar surroundings = less anxiety and confusion.
2. Maintained routines and independence.
3. One-to-one, personalised attention.
4. Often more cost-effective than residential care.
5. Family stays closely involved.

Home care isn't a compromise for many people; it's genuinely the better option.

Our team covers Leicestershire, including Ratby, Glenfield, Groby, Melton Mowbray, Coalville & more. All carers are CQC-regulated, DBS-checked, and local to your community.

Not sure where to start? We offer a free care assessment no pressure, just a conversation.

5 Signs It Might Be Time to Consider Home Care for a Loved One.

Knowing when a family member needs extra support isn't always obvious, and that's okay. Here are some early signs to look out for:

1. They're struggling with daily tasks like washing, dressing, or cooking.
2. Medications are being missed or taken incorrectly.
3. They seem more isolated, lonely, or withdrawn.
4. The house feels less tidy or safe than usual.
5. You're feeling overwhelmed trying to manage their care alone.

The earlier you start, the smoother the transition and the more independence your loved one gets to keep. Home care isn't about taking over. It's about stepping in just enough to make life feel manageable again.

Care at Home Midlands offers a free, no-obligation care assessment. We'll come to you, listen, and build a plan around your loved one's unique needs.

💙 Exciting News from Care at Home! 💙

Today marks a huge milestone for our Founding Directors, Matt Smith and Jessica Hodson, as we’ve officially completed the purchase of two flats — the very first in what will become our new supported living venture. 🏠✨

While Care at Home is already highly successful in domiciliary care, 24-hour care, and live-in care, this new chapter allows us to expand the ways we support people — offering greater independence, safety, and comfort for those who wish to live within the community with trusted care close by.

“These two properties are just the beginning,” said Jessica. “Our goal is to create supportive, welcoming homes where people can live independently and thrive.”

Matt added, “We’re so proud to take this next step for Care at Home — and even prouder to continue making a difference in people’s lives.” 💙

Here’s to new beginnings and even more ways to care, at home and beyond. 🌟
