SEE ME Saturdays at Langdale Care Homes Celebrating Our Residents

As part of our SEE ME Saturdays series, we take time to share the stories of the people who make Langdale Care Homes what it is. Today, we are proud to share the story of Leslie, who lives at Langdale House, and the thoughtful, person centred care that supports her to continue living her life in ways that matter to her.

At Langdale House, Sharon, our Activities Coordinator, often reminds us that this is our residents’ home.
Leslie has always enjoyed being around people. She values conversation, time with friends, and getting out into the community for a cup of tea or coffee and a chance to talk. These moments of connection are an important part of who Leslie is, and Sharon ensures they remain part of her daily life.

Leslie was also a doctor, a role she truly loved. Caring for others was central to her identity, and that connection continues to be respected. Through familiar medical programmes such as The Good Doctor and Grey’s Anatomy, Leslie remains connected to her professional life, sparking memories, conversations, and a strong sense of continuity.

Faith continues to play an important role in Leslie’s life. She and her husband Brian were members of the Church of England, and this connection is still honoured.
We are grateful to Leslie and her family for allowing us to share her story, and to Sharon for the compassion and dedication she brings to ensuring every person feels seen, valued, and truly at home.

Introducing SEE ME Saturdays at Langdale Care Homes: Celebrating Our Residents

We are excited to launch SEE ME Saturdays, a new weekly series where we share the personal stories of the residents who make Langdale Care Homes such a special place. To begin, we are honoured to share the story of Alan, a resident at Eden Holme Care Home.

Alan is a calming presence with a gentle nature that leaves a lasting impression. He takes great pride in looking smart and well-presented, and his dry sense of humour is a constant delight, often shining through in the quiet, thoughtful moments. Alan’s warmth is felt by all who spend time with him, and his presence brings comfort and joy to everyone around him.

Music is a big part of Alan’s life. He enjoys the soothing sounds of James Last, Shirley Bassey, and traditional jazz. Though he prefers listening to music over singing or dancing, it’s clear how much it means to him. The music gives him a sense of peace, and it’s a joy for those around him to see him enjoy it.

When he’s not lost in his favourite tunes, Alan’s love for military aircraft and nature programmes shines through. His passion for military films and documentaries often sparks wonderful conversations, especially when he shares his extensive knowledge about aircraft. There’s a special moment when his eyes light up as he talks about them, bringing the topic to life for those around him.

Alan also enjoys staying active and finding comfort in nature. Whether it’s a walk in the garden or simply watching the birds, these small moments of connection with the world outside provide him with peace and contentment.

We are incredibly grateful to Alan’s family for allowing us to share his story with you. It is a privilege to celebrate Alan’s life as part of our SEE ME Saturdays series, and we look forward to sharing more stories in the weeks to come.
