MBCOL was proud to attend The National Burial Council's 10th Annual Conference in Leamington Spa. We enjoyed networking with fellow funeral directors and organisations, and engaging in discussions about the progress and future of the funeral industry. The conference programme included presentations from a range of experts, including medical examiners, GPs, members of the Law Commission, Deputy Coroners, and others.

*STATUTORY DECLARATION FORM - REVERT MUSLIMS AND NON-MUSLIM FAMILY*
The National Burial Council (NBC) has shared important information on its website for revert Muslims and those married to non-Muslims. We are increasingly witnessing situations where a Muslim passes away, but the next of kin is a non-Muslim who then makes decisions regarding the burial.
Unfortunately, there have been cases where non-Muslim family members have chosen to cremate, rather than conduct a Muslim burial.
It is essential that we support our Muslim brothers and sisters in preparing for such circumstances.
NBC has produced a Statutory Declaration form that Muslims in these situations can download and complete. MBCOL encourages individuals to inform their local funeral directors in advance so that all necessary arrangements can be properly made.
Local Imams are also encouraged to share this information, along with any relevant guidance, when conducting Shahadah ceremonies.
