Symptoms of a reading difficulty (often referred to as dyslexia) can include:
• Slow reading/writing
• Poor spelling
• Confusing similar words
• Difficulty organising thoughts on paper
• Needing to re-read paragraphs to understand them
• Difficulty concentrating and maintaining focus
• Letters/words moving about on the page or running into each other
• Difficulty telling left from right
• Poor self esteem
A reading difficulty can profoundly affect a child’s visual and academic development, with the long-term effect of these difficulties continuing into adulthood.

To see if a 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 visual assessment can help with your reading difficulties, contact a 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 Schoolvision practitioner.

SVUK research has shown that unstable eye dominance, or poor visual development caused by an inability to focus on words, can cause reading difficulties.
With a new understanding of how the eyes work together, Schoolvision eye examinations offer children and adults an advanced binocular vision assessment. Particular attention is given to eye dominance, tracking ability and reading speed. Spectacles may then be prescribed to correct any problems that are found with the aim of relieving reading difficulties, and increasing reading speed and accuracy.

For a 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 assessment, contact a 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 Schoolvision practitioner.
