Founded in 1800, the fourth-oldest medical society in the country, still going strong with an inspiring programme of lectures every year. Treasurer - Prof.

The Society holds monthly meetings, with the main event being an interesting and often inspiring lecture of interest to medical professionals. All Leicestershire-based medics are welcome to attend. In addition to this, the Society has a number of medical student bursaries and offers continued support to local medical professionals and their families. Membership costs £30.00 per annum for medical professionals. Students at Leicester Medical School are entitled to free membership of the society for the duration of their studies. All meetings take place at the Centre for Medicine at the University of Leicester, Lancaster Road, LE1 5WW at 7pm. The meetings are preceded by an opportunity to network with a light supper and drinks from 6:15 pm. President - Dr Jonathan Cusack

Leicester Medical Society is proud to present our Annual Essay Competition! This year, we encourage you to reflect on Leicester's medical history and consider how we have progressed and changed over two and a half centuries. This Competition is open to ALL medical professionals and trainees. We hope that our students, clinicians and allied healthcare workers participate!
The winner will receive recognition from Leicester Medical Society - one of the oldest medical societies in England and a cash prize of £500!

NEW ESSAY COMPETITION OPPORTUNITY.

Leicester Medical Society is inviting Medical Students and Trainee Doctors to write up to 3000 words with the title:

“Reflections on the contribution I made during the Covid-19 pandemic”

The deadline for entry is 14/3/21 and prizes will be issued at the 13th April 2021 Leicester Medical Society Lecture 7pm on Zoom.

£500 1st prize
£250 2nd prize
£125 3rd prize
