Disney DAS pass the good, the bad and our honest review. To be clear a DAS pass isn’t a skip the line pass. It gives you a return time, same amount of time as the standby but you don’t physically have to wait in the queue.
You have to be interviewed to get the DAS pass and in order to do that you have to already be in the USA. Which meant for our first day we didn’t have it in place.
The interview process was pretty easy as it’s done via video call with one of the cast members of Disney. It is not about a diagnosis. It’s about identifying why you need help. You can go to guest services I believe too. But I knew Leo wouldn’t cope with waiting around in a park. We were also told walk ups are rarely approved.
It only covered us for 4 people. Which meant we had to split up from our extended family. We could swap which four went with Leo but not all of us could go together.
The point of a das is to help people who are not able to wait long periods of time. However, we would still be waiting 20-30mins in queues even after our return time. This was due to it being part of the lightening lanes where you return. As the parks were busy people were buying these (their rights of course) but the lightening lanes then backed up. Leo struggled massively with this. We would have already waited for standby time too, just not physically in the line.
You can only book a return time when in the park. And have to wait 10mins after you ride to book the next. Sometimes just going in the normal lines were quicker if the standby wasn’t long, we just did that
Some crew members aren’t very helpful or knowledgeable about the system and we did have to ask for a supervisor at one point.
Mostly we could take Leo wheelchair (his safe space) right up to a ride and then cast members would take it to an area where you collect after. We did make sure ours was named and tagged as there is a lot.
