ANNA ASKS:
How different do you feel at the end of the day when the sun is shining?

ANNA’S ANSWER:
As weird as it sounds, a change of perspective can help us reduce our stress levels.
Exactly the same day can seem completely different depending on how bright it is outside. We have all witnessed this recently, having seen so many dull and dark days over the winter months.

On the day I can see the bright sunshine, even for just a few hours, problems seem smaller, solutions to them seem more achievable, and smiles on people’s faces seem wider and more genuine.

All these can help us feel less stressed as a result, with the higher levels of good mood hormone serotonin being produced, bringing more calm and focus into our lives.

The immediate conclusion is to go outside when it’s sunny. But there is a deeper meaning in this, in that it is possible to change the way we view what is happening around us.

What’s YOUR ANSWER?

Relax and Reflect…and please REPOST if you found this useful.
Taking advantage of changing perspectives is simpler than you think.

This stall is really good quality, plenty of choice and Adele (and her lovely Mum) put a lot of effort to speak to all customers. I would highly recommend, both have a lovely energy and take great pride in their work.

It was so lovely to bump into Paula Denis of Celestial Moon Natural Beauty and Wellness yesterday at the Derby Mind, Body and Spirit event after a few years of not seeing each other. It was great to catch up and chat about our wellbeing businesses. I have always been a great fan of Paula's astute business head, and I'm also full of admiration of her dedication to all things healthy. She creates her own beautiful and healthy products and I couldn't recommend her more.

Do you know that changing perspective can help us see things in a completely different light, or even get a completely different message? Every message can be seen from different angles, and this is good news!
If your personal life or your work/ business is making you feel stressed for whatever reason, ask yourself:

What benefit is this bringing me?
Could it be a positive (albeit hard) learning curve you never even realised?

There are other questions that can be asked to invite calm and many other changes through changing perspective, and I am excited to say I have written a new blog about this.

ANNA ASKS:
What does the word satisfaction mean to you?

ANNA’S ANSWER:
We are all feeling the pressure that we have to make time to relax and do what we enjoy.
But what if we don’t enjoy playing games, listening to stand-up comedians, or watching Tik-Tok videos?
What if our version of enjoyment has a different form, one that isn’t immediately associated with enjoyment or relaxing?

I appreciate exploring things. And it could be through travelling or sight-seeing. But it could also be through gaining knowledge because I’m curious to find out more about different topics.

I’m curious about learning more about how I can best recover from my shoulder operation. I’m curious about how to do things differently because it could save time or give me an experience of a change or variety, for example using AI to create ease in life. And it gives me a sense of calm, because there is no pressure or tension involved.

At the end of the day, if I did what I am curious about in a calm environment, I feel satisfied. It doesn’t have to be euphoria, or something/ somebody funny (or trying to be funny), but rather contentment and fulfilment.

I have touched on this a little in my latest blog. I have noticed that New Year’s resolutions revolve around stopping something. But for me I enjoy doing something different, something that could help me change direction because it creates a positive result, rather than focusing on the negative. And searching for a positive gives me satisfaction.

How did this happen? We are half way through January already!

How does it feel when you think of what habits you want to stop this year? Daunting? Heavy? Irritating? Exhausting? If any of these resonate, believe me, you are normal.

There’s a lot of pressure to stop something in January, isn’t there? We hear we must stop eating too much or the wrong foods, spending too much time scrolling, drinking too much, etc. etc., and the more we read or think about them, the more stressed and anxious we feel.

Yes, a new year can be a good marker to do something different, but we have to be mindful of the stress level spike this kind of approach can cause.

This year, I encourage you to think about what actually works for you.
Because no matter how much support we have, change only tends to stick when the approach fits the person.
Think back to a time when you felt genuinely motivated.
What helped then, encouragement, pressure, curiosity, kindness, an unusual approach?
Research shows that positive feedback and self-compassion support motivation far more effectively than criticism or force.

If you’re curious about gentler ways of approaching change, I’ve explored this more in my latest blog.

My message this Christmas is short and to the point, putting Self-Love in the forefront:

Make it yours.
Forgive yourself for it not being perfect.
Find ways you can enjoy staying Calm wherever you are.

And if that’s difficult, find someone to talk to, whoever that might be.
Always being kind to yourself, even if you have to reach out to:

A neighbour
NHS
Samaritans.

Your life is yours, hope you can find your way to honour that.

Have a Peaceful Christmas.

Life could be so much more joyful if we truly appreciated the simple things in life.
Too often we do that only when we miss them.

After my shoulder surgery two months ago, I couldn't drive!

I was told I should be able to drive within a few days, but it didn't happen for almost two months...

Sleep impacts EVERYTHING in life.

I have always taken a little while to fall asleep.
I have, however, always found myself using that time to unwind, slow down after the busyness of the day.

But after my shoulder operation the lack of sleep due to severe backache waking me up halfway through the night became more debilitating than I ever imagined.

Yes, I researched it, as you do, and it became apparent that very often this is very normal after a shoulder operation. Subconsciously, we want to protect ourselves from hurting our vulnerable shoulder, but that means we end up in positions that hurt us rather than save us. And even now, 7 weeks later, I am still struggling to sleep more than 5.5hrs and wake up in the middle of the night with a bad lower back pain, which leads me to having hardly any sleep from then on.

Needless to say, the impact this has had on me has been so huge it really shocked me.

I found myself struggling in situations I could previously handle easily, and it was also difficult to:
- Make decisions,
- Stay focused,
- Connect with others,
And so much more.

My life seemed so volatile.
My moods were unpredictable.
My mental ability was vulnerable.
Both my body and my mind were desperate for rest.

I was really struggling on many levels.

As the struggle continued I realised that the only person who could make some changes was myself, I slowly started to pay attention to what worked.

What stress cycle are you stuck in?
What positive outcomes would you like to see in your life?
What helps you stay calm on your journey?
What grows your confidence?

If you would like to find out how I tackled my struggle, and how You can do that too, read my latest blog.

I am on a fascinating mental and emotional learning journey I never planned.

25th September 2025 I had a surgery of my dominant side’s shoulder to remove a big piece of calcification.
It started a huge mental and emotional discovery through my physical journey.

I had been told that type was not very invasive.
I had been told I would drive within a few days.
I had been told I should be able to return to the gym within a couple of months.

All of the above turned out different, but I am not sorry about that.
The learning that I have gained from the journey has been truly eye-opening.

My first 4 weeks have taught me more than at least the last 4 years of my life, and the learnings have been strengthening in my mind ever since.

I am on a mission to share 10 lessons I have learned because I truly believe they can help me and you to grow into a better person for oneself and others.

Here are the first two:

1. Pain is a piece of feedback that assists in growing Confidence.
2. Doing what we can pushes us to grow Confidence.

Read the logic behind it in my first blog (below) to take full advantage of its meaning in your life.
