Supporting LGBTQ+ communities 🌈

At LFC, we support all of those within the LGBTQ+ community who may be starting out on their path to parenthood and are looking to start a family of their own. As with anybody who walks through our doors, we are always happy to help and know that there can be questions around fertility, certain treatments and needing support.

That's why we wanted to draw attention to Fertility Network's online support group. They hold regular meetings to discuss queries and concerns with like-minded people - so if this is something you're eager to know more about or to join, you can do so by using their email or the QR code.

True or False?
It’s not safe to use frozen embryos in fertility treatment.

The freezing of embryos can take place after a round of fertility treatment, such as IVF. If there are some good-quality embryos left over, you may be given the option of having them stored for potential future use.

However, if you were to use one in the future to try to get pregnant, would it be safe to do so?

The answer is – yes! This method is just as safe as using fresh embryos. The main risk in both cases is the potential for a ‘multiple birth’ - this is when you fall pregnant with twins or triplets, which can lead to a more severe health impact on both the children and/or yourself.

If you have any further questions – or want to know how we can help you – simply get in touch via the link in our bio.

‘Could I fall pregnant naturally after IVF treatment?’

This is a question we sometimes get asked – and the answer tends to be specific to each individual.

There isn’t a straight up ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer to give here. However, reports such as the one from VARTA (Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority) suggest that it is possible to fall pregnant naturally after undergoing IVF.

In the VARTA study, 400 women were questioned and half had conceived with IVF. Two years later, they were contacted again and 33% had managed to conceive naturally after having their first child with treatment.

Again, a natural pregnancy after IVF isn’t guaranteed. Things often aren’t straightforward in fertility, as there are multiple factors at play. However, the evidence in this instance does provide hope of a natural future pregnancy for many IVF patients.

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is a type of fertility treatment often discussed – so we wanted to lay out some facts for you.

FET is the process of using frozen eggs, which may have been taken during an IVF treatment, and placing them back into the uterus. This will involve making the environment as optimal as possible beforehand, via an injection.

Hopefully, these facts provide some clarity. Please get in touch via the link in our bio if you’d like to discuss a potential treatment further.

Infertility affects 1 in 6 people around the world — but millions still can’t access the care they need.

WHO and HRP Research have launched the first global guideline on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infertility.

It lays out evidence-based ways to make fertility care part of every health system:
💡 start with affordable, effective options
💡 expand services in primary care
💡 invest in prevention and education

Because fertility care isn’t a luxury, it’s part of the right to health.
