I am really pleased to have been featured in Asian Voice this week, talking about something I see in clinic almost every day — hearing loss being brushed off as “just ageing.” In our community especially, hearing changes are too often laughed off rather than addressed.

The impact reaches further than most people realise. Even a moderate hearing loss can mean missing around 40% of the sound around you. Over years, the brain works overtime to fill the gaps, and that load is now linked to memory problems, social withdrawal, low mood and falls.

A hearing test takes 45 minutes and is painless. If a parent or grandparent has not had one in two years, please send them in.

Some relationships in clinic are truly special 💙

This couple came to Ish for their hearing aid fittings, and what started as care over 10 years ago has grown into something much more meaningful — trust, confidence, and familiarity.

It’s not just about hearing better, but feeling comfortable, supported, and genuinely happy every time they walk through the door. Moments like this are what Hear with Ish is all about.

Thank you both for your continued trust and kind words — it means the world.

If you’re looking for hearing care that feels personal, calm, and long-term, we’re always here to help.

Sound therapy is one of the most recommended approaches for tinnitus — but does it actually work?

The short answer: yes, for many people. But the type of sound therapy matters, and understanding the difference between masking and habituation can help you get much better results.

In our latest blog, we break down the evidence behind white noise, pink noise, nature sounds and Tinnitus Retraining Therapy — and explain how modern hearing aids can deliver personalised sound therapy directly to your ears.

Reviews like this genuinely mean so much 🤍

Behind every kind word is someone who walked in feeling unsure, overwhelmed, and often frustrated… and left feeling clearer, calmer, and more in control.

Tinnitus can feel isolating, but having the time, space, and support to truly understand what’s happening can make all the difference. That transformation comes from listening, not rushing — and tailoring care to every individual.

If you’ve been putting off getting help, this is your sign. You don’t have to manage it alone. Let’s take that first step together.

Did you know there are actually different types of tinnitus — and the type you have changes how it should be treated?

Most tinnitus is “subjective” (heard only by you), but a small percentage is “objective” — meaning the sound is generated by a physical source inside your body and can sometimes be detected during examination.

Understanding the distinction matters because the treatment pathways are fundamentally different. Our latest blog explains both types, how tinnitus is diagnosed, and why pulsatile tinnitus deserves particular attention.

A topic that doesn’t get enough attention in hearing health: medication-induced tinnitus.

Ototoxicity — the potential for certain medications to damage the inner ear — is a recognised clinical concern. From high-dose NSAIDs and aminoglycoside antibiotics to platinum-based chemotherapy agents, the list of medications with ototoxic potential is longer than many people realise.

Our latest article provides a practical overview of which medication categories carry the highest risk, what to watch for, and the steps patients should take — including why a baseline hearing assessment can be so valuable.

Important: this is educational information, not medical advice. Always consult your GP before making any changes to medication.
