Never in a million years…
… did I think I’d be “that” person who happily woke up naturally, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day at 6am (or before!).
If, for you, that sounds awful, have you considered WHY it sounds so awful?
Could it be because you get to bed late, with your mind buzzing, have bad quality sleep and so the idea of waking up at 6am means you’d feel crap all day?? 😴
Why not try and improve your sleep hygiene and see what happens to your energy levels.
Putting a sleep schedule in place is something I do with all of my clients and myself. Having a routine helps your circadian rhythm stablise and work WITH your body’s processes, not against them.
⭐ Why does this work?? ⭐
When you maintain a stable rhythm irrespective of the scenario (you’ve gotta do it at weekends too, I’m afraid!), you’ll often start waking up moments before your alarm.
And here's the sciencey bit... 🔬
This is down to your PER1 and BMAL1 genes. About an hour before your body anticipates waking up, it raises the levels of a protein called PER in your blood, as well as increasing your body temperature and blood pressure.
⏰ Your alarm clock is a stressful event (!) so your PER and stress hormones start to rise earlier to avoid this, resulting in you waking up sometimes seconds before your alarm!!
On the other hand, PER levels fall at night and cause your biological system and heart rate to slow down, as well as your mental processes winding down.
When you throw out that timing, your sleep and routine get disrupted, and your mental and physical output are hindered too!
So why not try and work WITH your body rather than against it, and maybe waking up naturally, feeling refreshed and energetic won’t sound so bad after all.
