Hike for Homeless 2026 with St Basils.

A powerful reminder that small actions can create real impact.

People coming together to walk, raise funds, and support young individuals facing homelessness. It is not always visible, but it is real, and it affects more people than you might think.

Great to see Dr Hina Trivedi taking part as well.

This is more than a walk. It is a chance to be part of something that genuinely helps others.

The question is simple. Would you take part? https://stbasils.org.uk/events/hike-for-homeless/

Proud moment for our trainee doctors, led by Dr Hina Trivedi, presenting in Nottingham.

This project focused on helping people feel more confident managing life with a stoma, especially within South Asian communities where support is often harder to access.

A simple, supportive session made a real difference.
People left feeling more confident, informed, and less alone.

Sometimes it is not about complex treatment.
It is about being understood, spoken to in your language, and given the right support at the right time.

A successful Diabetic Foot Clinic was recently held for patients at the surgery, helping identify early signs of foot complications and providing practical advice on daily foot care.

Diabetes can damage blood vessels and nerves in the feet, which increases the risk of ulcers, infection and long term complications if problems go unnoticed. Simple checks can help detect early warning signs.

During the clinic, patients received foot assessments, guidance on recognising symptoms, and advice on protecting their foot health.

Education and prevention remain key parts of diabetes care.

Thank you to the clinical team for supporting patients and raising awareness about the importance of regular diabetic foot checks.

Living with your stoma.

In this video podcast from Horizon Healthcare, our doctor speaks directly with a patient who is currently living with a stoma, sharing an honest and grounded conversation about real life after surgery.

They discuss what day to day living is really like, how routines change, the emotional impact, and the practical adjustments that come with having a stoma. The focus stays on lived experience rather than medical jargon.

A stoma is a surgically created opening on the abdomen that allows waste to leave the body after bowel or bladder surgery. For many people it is a necessary and life sustaining part of their treatment, yet it can also raise questions around confidence, independence, work, and relationships.

This podcast aims to inform, reassure, and normalise these experiences. It is relevant for people living with a stoma, those awaiting surgery, carers, and anyone who wants a clearer understanding of what living with a stoma really involves.
