🌟 The MHFP Team Visits Melton 🌟

The MHFP team recently visited the wonderful team at Melton and District Money Advice Centre to learn more about the incredible work they do within our community.

We heard from Amanda about the impact their service has on local residents and why they chose to become a Mental Health Friendly Place. Their commitment to supporting people not just financially, but emotionally too, truly reflects what being a Mental Health Friendly Place is all about đź’š

For 10 years, the team at MADMAC have been dedicated to helping residents across Melton & Charnwood gain control of their finances, reduce money worries, and move towards financial freedom.

If you’d like support to better manage your budget, review your spending, or take steps towards feeling more confident with your money, reach out to the team at:

Congratulations to everyone at MADMAC on reaching this amazing 10-year milestone – and thank you for everything you do to support our community! 👏🎉

Myth 1: 'Talking about mental health will make things worse'

Fact: Talking about mental health helps people feel relief, understood and less alone. Bottling things up often increases stress and anxiety. Talking about mental health also helps to reduce the associated stigma.

Myth 2: 'You need to be a mental health expert to support someone'.

Fact: You don't!

Being a Mental Health Friendly Place is about:
✔️ Listening without judgement
✔️ Knowing where to signpost
✔️ Creating a welcoming environment

Small actions make a big difference đź’š

đź’š Supporting Mental Health in Our Community đź’š

Hear from a member of the Peace of Green team as they share how accessing Mental Health First Aid training through has made a real difference.

Through this training, they’ve gained the confidence and understanding to recognise when someone may be struggling, offer support, and signpost them to the right help.

At Peace of Green, they create a space where people feel safe, listened to, and supported — and where no one has to face things alone.

Huge shout out to Leicester Tigers Foundation, Leicester City in the Community & Leicester Riders Foundation who now have 7 Mental Health First Aiders 👏

They are also officially signed off as Mental Health Friendly Clubs 🙌 — leading the way in supporting our communities, raising awareness around mental health and su***de prevention, and showing that wellbeing truly matters both on and off the pitch.

A big thank you to Leicester Tigers Foundation for hosting us at the ground — such a brilliant setting for such important work! 🏉

Becoming a Mental Health First Aider is so important because it means:
đź’š More people feel confident to start conversations
đź’š Early signs of struggle are recognised sooner
💚 People know they’re not alone
đź’š Support is offered without judgement
đź’š Communities become safer, stronger and more connected

This is how we change the game — together. 💚

On Friday 30th January, the MHFP team visited Root & Branch Out’s Souper Space & Community Fridge 💚

It was a fantastic visit with lots of interesting and meaningful conversations with both volunteers and residents. It was great to see the positive impact the project continues to have within the local community.

Claire Crowley has shared the following:

“We decided to take the opportunities provided by the LLR Mental Health Friendly Places programme for our organisation to develop our skills and knowledge around Mental Health, so that we could become a more inclusive place for anyone involved in our community projects.

We have greatly benefited from the free high quality training as a whole staff team and as individual staff, who have worked on the available e-learning resources.

Gaining the recognition as a Mental Health friendly place gives our organisation a place on the LLR MHFP map and means that we are better informed to work within our local community.

We are very grateful to have had access to this training. We will continue to encourage other businesses and organisations locally in Rutland to develop skills around Mental Health so it becomes everyone’s business to have honest and supportive conversations”

Thank you to everyone at Root-and-Branch Out CIC for the warm welcome and for your continued commitment to supporting the wellbeing of your community đź’š

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week 💚

Our children’s feelings matter. Their worries matter. Their joy, their fears, their big emotions and quiet struggles — all of it matters.

Let’s remind our children that it’s okay to not be okay. That asking for help is brave. That their voice deserves to be heard.

A simple “How are you really feeling?” can open a door.
A few minutes of listening can make a lifetime of difference.

Let’s raise children who feel safe to talk about their mental health — and adults who are ready to listen. 💚
