Leigh Pelvic Care

Leigh Pelvic Care Offering specialised physiotherapy services for pregnancy through to menopause and beyond.

I have been a qualified physiotherapist for 19 years, I am HCPC registered and a member of the CSP and POGP. I have spent my career working for the NHS, 17 of these years spent working in Women's and Men's Health which involves the treatment of ante natal pelvic girdle pain (previously known as SPD), urinary and faecal incontinence, bowel dysfunction (including constipation), sexual dysfunction and vaginal prolapse. I completed a Post Graduate Certification in Continence from the University of Bradford in 2009. As a mother of 2 and a woman of a certain age I understand the changes our body goes through and the challenges we face to maintain balance in our lives. I believe that education is an important part of treating any condition and key to restoring normal function.

On my way home from a great study day talking all things poo at The Big Bowel Movement 💩, great updates on best practice management and an excellent keynote speech from Dr Hilary Jones!
If you have any concerns regarding changes in bowel habit or you notice blood in your poo always seek medical attention with your GP.
Physio is a great way to help manage bowel conditions.

A lovely new review

“Helen is very knowledgeable and explains things so clearly. She is easy to communicate with both prior to the appointment and during it. She puts you at ease throughout your consultation and her assessment and information is so comprehensive. I’d highly recommend her service for anyone considering booking in a pelvic health check.”

Post natal checks include assessment of the spine and pelvis, abdominal muscles, any scars and the pelvic floor muscles. These are great from 6 weeks+.

Urinary incontinence affects many men and women and you don’t have to put up with it, there are many effective treatments to help.

Pelvic floor exercises are a great place to start but only if you’re doing them correctly. As pelvic health physiotherapists we can assess your pelvic floor and ensure you’re technique is right.
