I love this exercise on the Reformer - how I can feel my spine more ‘open’ and elongated, also feeling more space and breath in the back of the ribs and between the shoulder blades.

The lift from my centre picking me up and off my hands - there should be no strain in the wrists.

Why is it called ‘Elephant’?
Who knows! 😂

“No pain no gain” …. Mmm is this really the case?
Pain usually indicates that something is wrong.
Now there can be discomfort from working the muscles at a deeper level but this is different from ‘pain’
If you are recovering from an injury or working on an imbalance, yes, we need to work the body to promote change but we do this in a controlled way.
As the saying goes ‘Pilates meets you where you are at’ and we move on from there … this is how you create lasting change for a better functioning body.

I’m inspired everyday by the people we teach.

You should not feel trapped in the body you are in. Your body is more capable than you think.
There seems to be too many labels and pills and not enough nurture, support, guidance and curiosity.

Self care is not a luxury it’s a must.

I recently had to spend time working from home on a computer, at a desk, being completely involved in what I was doing time flew by and before I knew it, it was dark! When I got up I could hardly move - ok, I know what you are saying… why sit there for so long… true, but it did get me thinking about all those office workers / workers from home. Somehow you don’t think they would suffer as much but actually sitting still for long periods of time plays havoc on the body!
Let’s move! 💃🕺

Have you ever noticed someone trip, and no matter how much they stumble they never touch the floor?
Amazing right? How the body quickly reacts to given situations. We must continue to challenge the body with movement.
Balance, co-ordination, agility, flexibility, strength.

Rowing 1 on the Reformer - we had fun in class exploring the lift in the waist as you circle the arms. How much longer can you get your curve to lift up and out of your hips 🤔… whole new ball game 🙌
