A busy week for LMT, with two RYA courses, two EFAW courses and the final day of a 3 day FAW course for HARP Homelessness Charity.
A really engaging group, who I enjoyed teaching!

Another RYA First Aid as Sea course for 3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scouts today.
We are currently putting together some dates for further RYA courses, so please do get in touch if you are interested in a course.
We can also come your venue / yacht club etc to provide RYA First Aid training.

Two EFAW courses for Osborne Fish this week.
Being a Seafood merchant and cafe it was great to be able to tailor the courses towards some of the issues they may face for both staff and customers such as choking, allergies, burns and wounds. Due to selling shellfish we also added in anaphylaxis in addition to the standard syllabus.
Osborne’s also allowed us to arrange the training venue, which allowed to us to use a local Scout hall, resulting in a donation being made to the scout group helping to fund future activities for the young people of Leigh-on-sea.
Thank you to Osbornes’s Seafood merchants for choosing us to deliver their training!

So, it turns out that Mother’s Day isn’t the most popular day to be on a first aid course! But well done to Paul and Will who attended to complete the RYA First Aid training. The smaller group allowed for a slightly more bespoke course, and allowed more time for the candidates to get to grips with the practical elements of the course!

We still have some spaces on our next course, this Sunday 22nd March!

Last week we ran an RYA First Aid at sea course for 3rd Chalkwell Bay Sea Scouts. This is a maritime based course for their RYA instructors and has some additional topics to cover the Scouts first aid requirements.
We have some spaces on our up coming RYA courses on 15th and 22nd March, so please get in contact to book a space.

Yesterday we ran one of our Life-Threatening Bleed Control Courses for HARP Homelessness Charity.
HARP have their own bleed control kit, so it was great to be able to train and familiarise some staff with the kit and equipment within it.

Last night we ran another Casualty Care refresher for RNLI Southend Lifeboat.
Initially we revised the use of the Oxygen, BVM, suction, OP airways and use of the AED, as well as the CPR and drowning protocols.
We then ran through a scenario using a heavy full sized manikin, with the crew working out how to provide treatment on the small D boat, setting up a resus area, transferring the casualty, and running through a resuscitation attempt using all the equipment mentioned above, to add some realism to the training.
A really useful session which I enjoyed facilitating. Thanks to all that attended!

A little trip up to the city of London today to run an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course for SANDS legal LLP at the Royal Exchange buildings.
Having just opened this London office, it was great to see the staff prioritising their legal obligations in regards to First Aid provision!
In addition to providing the First Aid training, Lighthouse Medical Training were also able to give advice around which First Aid kit to purchase, the suggested number of First Aiders and level of training required!

Another RYA First Aid course for Benfleet Yacht Club. This is a maritime focused first aid course for those that that are active on or around the water, and covers those who work commercially in Category C waters.
Well done to those that attended!
