As the weather starts to warm up, it’s a great reminder of how important staying hydrated is especially for older adults
As we age, our sense of thirst can decrease, meaning many people may not realize they’re becoming dehydrated. Warmer temperatures can increase the risk even further, leading to symptoms like dizziness, confusion, fatigue, and in more serious cases, hospitalization.
Here are a few simple ways to help stay hydrated:
💧Encourage regular sips of water throughout the day
💧Include hydrating foods like fruits (melon, berries, oranges)
💧Keep drinks easily accessible and visible
💧 Offer a variety of drinks to make it more enjoyable
A little awareness can go a long way in keeping our loved ones safe, comfortable, and well during the warmer months.
Stay safe, stay hydrated 💚
