At The Rehab Hut, we often meet people who have been living with pain for months — sometimes even years.

Many arrive feeling frustrated, having tried their best with advice and exercise plans but still not seeing the progress they hoped for.

A common story we hear is: “I was given exercises, but nothing really changed.” Movement and exercise are vital for recovery, but when treatment focuses only on symptoms — without fully understanding why the problem developed — progress can sometimes stall.

In osteopathy, we work from a simple principle: structure and function are closely related. If the body’s structure isn’t moving well — whether that’s a stiff joint, overloaded tissue, or areas compensating for others — function is affected. Pain is often a signal, not just the problem itself.
When the underlying cause isn’t addressed, symptoms can persist or keep returning.

For many people, a combination of hands-on treatment and truly individual rehabilitation helps restore efficient movement, supports healing, and makes exercise more effective. It’s not about replacing exercise — it’s about making sure the body is ready to benefit from it.

We have great respect for the care provided across the NHS and the dedication of physiotherapists working within a very stretched system. But if you’ve been doing the right things and still feel stuck, sometimes a more personalised, hands-on approach — focused on both symptoms and root cause — can make the difference.

If pain has been part of your life longer than it should be, change is possible — and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

🌿 Winter Coughs & Colds: How Herbal Medicine Can Help 🤧❄️

As the colder months settle in, many of us start to feel the familiar signs of winter bugs — that scratchy throat, lingering cough, or run-down feeling. While rest and good nutrition are essential, herbal medicine offers gentle, effective support to help your body recover and stay resilient.

🌱 Herbs I often use during the winter season include:

✨ Elderberry – rich in antioxidants, traditionally used to support immunity.
✨ Thyme – a wonderful antimicrobial herb that’s great for soothing coughs.
✨ Echinacea – known for supporting the immune response at the first sign of illness.
✨ Marshmallow root – calming and soothing for irritated throats.
✨ Ginger – warming, stimulating, and supportive for circulation and digestion.

As a medical herbalist, I make up safe and effective whole plant preparations that help to combat these winter low points or alternately I can tailor whole-plant preparations specifically to the individual when symptoms require stronger interventions — whether you're dealing with a stubborn cough, recurrent colds, or simply want to strengthen your body through winter.

If you'd like personalised support or want to explore herbal options for yourself or your family, feel free to get in touch or visit my website:

🌿 World Menopause Day – October 18th 🌿
Theme 2025: Improving Health and Wellbeing

Menopause is a natural stage of life that every woman will go through — but it can sometimes feel confusing, isolating, or overwhelming. Understanding what’s happening in your body and knowing where to find support can make a huge difference. 💛

✨ Did you know that around 30% of women are going through menopause at any one time?
You’re not alone — and support is available.

There are over 40 recognised symptoms of menopause. You may only experience a few, but even these can affect your daily life. Small changes — like taking the right supplements, staying active, keeping hydrated, and eating well — can all help to ease symptoms.

As both a Medical Herbalist and Osteopath, I offer a natural, supportive approach to perimenopause and menopause that can help:
🌸 Balance fluctuating hormones
🌸 Calm the nervous system
🌸 Improve sleep
🌸 Support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing
