🍓🥤☀️ Our amazing kitchen team have been busy preparing fortified strawberry milkshakes specially made to support our residents by adding extra calories and nutrients in a tasty, easy to enjoy way 💪💗 Perfect for those who may struggle with appetite or maintaining weight.

A huge thank you to Mo and Julie for handing them out this morning and taking the time to chat with residents and gather their feedback 🥰👏 It’s so important to see those smiles and hear what they think!

These milkshakes are especially beneficial in a care home setting for residents living with dementia 🧠💙 they’re familiar, comforting, and easy to consume, helping to promote hydration, nutrition, and overall wellbeing in a simple, enjoyable way.

👶🏻🧡Little feet & Golden years 🩷👵🏻

Today we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming beautiful baby girl Lyla Mae to Bedford, visiting all 6 of our units and filling every room with pure joy ✨

Lyla Mae brought the biggest smiles to our residents’ faces all day long, clapping, giggling, blowing kisses and spreading happiness wherever she went 🥰💋 Her bright energy and sweet nature truly lit up the whole home 💫

For our residents, especially those living with dementia, moments like these are incredibly special 💭💕 The presence of a child can spark memories, encourage communication, and create feelings of comfort, connection and calm. It brings a sense of purpose, reduces anxiety, and fills hearts with warmth in a way that words simply can’t describe 🤍

Seeing the joy, laughter and emotional connection shared today was just so heartwarming. These are the moments that truly matter 💖

Thank you, Lyla Mae, for bringing such a magical day to us all 🌈

🦆 New Residents Alert at Bedford Care Home! 🦆

Everyone please give a warm Bedford Care Home welcome to our newest couple… Mr & Mrs Mallard! 💕

They’ve settled in nicely, although we’ve quickly discovered they are VERY fussy residents… their only dining request is oats. A big thank you to our wonderful kitchen team for preparing such a delicious oat delicacy for our newest (and very particular!) residents. Safe to say it went down an absolute treat! 🦆🥣😋

Luckily our amazing Darren stepped in during lunch service to provide some very dedicated assisted feeding. Top care as always! 👏

Safe to say they’re already making themselves right at home around the grounds. Just waiting to see if they’ll join in with activities next… maybe water aerobics? 🏊‍♂️😂

✨ A big amazing congratulations to our incredible Dawn, whose caring nature shines just as brightly as her beautiful personality. She’s our March Employee of the Month! 🩷

She is currently a Nursing Assistant on our Pennington Unit while also studying at university for her nursing degree and we couldn’t be prouder of her! 👩‍⚕️🎓

We are so lucky to have such an incredible, kind, and dedicated person as part of our Bedford Care Home family.

Our residents are truly lucky to have Dawn caring for them every day. 💙

🎬🍿 Friday Movie Night in Our Makeshift Cinema! 🍿🎬

Our second Friday movie evening in our little cinema space was an absolute success! ⭐

Our wonderful residents chose the classic “The Sound of Music” 🎶 and it was so lovely to hear everyone singing along while watching with eyes glued to the screen. Such a special atmosphere! 💛

As the movie is nearly 3 hours long, our amazing kitchen team organised a mid-movie treat of traditional Friday fish & chips 🐟🍟 so everyone could enjoy dinner and dessert right in the cinema, just like a real luxury movie experience!

Of course, no cinema experience would be complete without popcorn, chocolates, toffee, and plenty of drinks 🍫🍬🍿🥤

It truly was such a wonderful evening full of smiles, music, and great company.

Our very first Community Engagement Afternoon was absolutely lovely 💛

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful residents and their family members who joined us in reception for tea, chats, and some very delicious chocolate fudge cake 🍰☕ And a special thank you to the Bedfod team for bringing their resident along too, it was so special to have everyone together 😊

Apologies that we didn’t manage to capture photos of everyone who came along… the afternoon flew by because we were having so much fun! ⏰✨

It was heartwarming to hear everyone singing along to the music 🎶 and even getting up for a little dance 💃🕺

Moments like these are so important in a care home setting. Bringing residents, families, and staff together helps reduce feelings of isolation, strengthens relationships, supports emotional wellbeing, and creates a real sense of community and belonging ❤️ These shared experiences make such a difference and create memories to treasure.

We can’t wait for the next one next week where we will be celebrating Holi! 💕

We’re so excited to share something new we’ve made to introduce here at Bedford Advinia Health Care💙✨

We’ve created a Communication Book 📖🖊️ to help our residents express their needs more easily and confidently. The book includes pages for feelings, wants, preferences, questions and so much more, giving everyone a simple, supportive way to communicate what matters to them 💭❤️.

In a dementia nursing home, communication can sometimes become challenging. Having clear visuals 🖼️, helpful prompts ✨ and easy choices ✔️ makes such a difference. It helps to reduce frustration 😣, ease anxiety 💕, support independence 🌟 and empower our residents to have their voices heard loud and clear 🗣️💙.

This is all part of our person centred approach promoting dignity, confidence, inclusion and overall wellbeing every single day.

We’re also incredibly proud of our amazing resident models 📸🌟 who have kindly shown off some of the pages for us. Don’t they look fantastic? 😍👏

🎬🍿 Friday Film Fun! 🍿🎬

To end the week on a high, we transformed our salon into a cosy little cinema for our residents! Lights dimmed, comfy chairs ready, and snacks in hand… we settled down to watch The Jungle Book 🐻🌴

The room was so peaceful, everyone completely focused and fixed on the screen. It was lovely to see how much they enjoyed it! ❤️

Of course, no cinema experience would be complete without treats… 🍿 Popcorn and liquorice all sorts were shared around, making it feel like a real trip to the pictures!

It was such a nice change of scenery to be off the unit for a little while, while still staying safely on site. For our residents living with dementia, moments like this are especially meaningful. Familiar films can spark memories, provide comfort through well known songs and characters, and create a calming, shared experience. The predictability of a classic favourite helps residents feel relaxed and engaged, and the simple joy of watching together encourages connection and conversation. 💛

Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the sweetest memories. ✨

🍓✨ National Strawberry Day – 27th February ✨🍓

Today we’re celebrating National Strawberry Day, and what better way to mark the occasion than with some delicious homemade treats! ❤️

A huge shoutout to our incredible kitchen team who work tirelessly every single day to prepare tasty, nutritious meals for all 155 of our wonderful residents. Their hard work, creativity, and dedication never go unnoticed and today was no exception! 👏👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

To make the day extra special, they treated everyone to:
🍓 Strawberry jam tarts
🍓 Delicious summer fruit flan

Moments like this are so important in a care home. It’s not just about the food, it’s about creating joy, sparking memories, encouraging conversation, and making every day feel special. Something as simple as strawberries can bring back lovely summer memories and big smiles all around. ☀️💭

We are so grateful for our amazing kitchen team who go above and beyond to make days like today sweet in every way! 🍰💗

Yesterday we encouraged our team and residents to wear pink for Pink Shirt Day (Feb 25th) 💗🎀🌸

Pink Shirt Day is all about standing up against bullying, choosing kindness, and promoting inclusion 💕🤝✨ It’s a powerful reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone’s day 🫶💞🌈

Seeing splashes of pink across the team was such a lovely touch, it truly brightened up our home 🌸💖💜 The smiles, the outfits, the positive vibes… just beautiful! 😍✨

We also got creative with some pink themed art to help spread love and positivity 🎨🖌️💗 There’s something so special about coming together for a meaningful cause especially in a care home, where community, compassion, and connection mean everything 🏡💞👵👴 It’s such a sweet way to remind our residents (and each other!) that they are valued, supported, and surrounded by kindness every single day 🌷💓🤗
