April is National Stress Awareness Month

Grief, loss, and saying goodbye to a loved one can be one of the most overwhelming experiences we face in life. At Dillamore Funeral Service, we see first-hand how much emotional weight families carry during these moments, often alongside the everyday stresses of life.

This month is a gentle reminder to pause… to breathe… and to be kind to yourself.

If you are grieving, please know:

✨ There is no “right” way to feel
✨ There is no timeline for healing
✨ And you don’t have to carry it all alone

Sometimes, the smallest things can help ease the heaviness:
We are here not only to guide families through practical arrangements but to offer care, understanding, and a listening ear when it’s needed most.
– Taking a quiet moment for yourself
– Speaking to someone you trust
– Getting outside for a breath of fresh air
– Allowing yourself to feel, without judgment

We are here not only to guide families through practical arrangements, but to offer care, understanding, and a listening ear when it’s needed most.

If this post reaches you at a difficult time, take it as a sign to slow down today even just for a moment.

Be gentle with yourself.

Last week, we had the honour of arranging a truly beautiful farewell for a much-loved lady. Her journey was carried by a horse-drawn hearse, guided by four graceful horses. A tribute filled with tradition and deep love.

As they moved gently along, there was a stillness in the air, the kind that speaks louder than words. A moment for reflection, for memories, and for the life that was so clearly cherished.

It is always a privilege to help create something so personal and meaningful. Every detail chosen with care, every step taken with respect.

After losing someone we love, the first year can be filled with many difficult “firsts” – birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and even small everyday moments that suddenly feel very different.

In one of our blogs, we share some thoughts on coping with these moments and ways to be gentle with yourself as you navigate grief. 🤍

If you or someone you know may find this helpful, you can read more here:

For anyone coping with loss, Christmas can feel like a particularly difficult time. Feelings of grief are often intensified as people are reminded of the loved ones who are no longer here. Taking extra care of yourself and preparing for how you may feel can help. In our latest blog we’ve suggested...

Behind every door is a legacy of care.

Our arranging rooms are named in honour of the generations of the Dillamore family who have dedicated their lives to serving families in their time of need.

Each room carries the name of a man who helped shape the values our funeral service still stands by today:

• Frederick Dillamore – representing the earlier foundations of the family business.
• Samuel Dillamore – continuing the tradition of compassion and service.
• Richard Dillamore – our current Director, carrying the family legacy forward today.

When families sit in these rooms, they are surrounded by more than just quiet spaces for conversation. They are part of a long-standing tradition of dignity, care, and personal service that has been passed down through generations.

It’s a small way for us to honour the history of our family and the community we are privileged to serve. 🤍

Last week, we had the privilege of arranging a truly special farewell, including beautiful horses, Duke and Cosmo from Waldburg Shires

There is something incredibly moving about the quiet beauty of a horse-drawn carriage. It gently slows the moment, creating space to reflect, remember, and honour a life in such a deeply personal way.

At Dillamore Funeral Service, every detail matters. It was an honour to help create such a meaningful tribute for a lady whose love for shire horses was such an important part of her life.

Mother’s Day can bring many emotions. For some it is a day of celebration, but for others it can be a day when we feel the absence of someone we love.

Today we remember the mothers, grandmothers and mother figures who are no longer with us, but whose love still surrounds us every day.

In their memory, we invite you to light a candle today.

If you would like to take part, please comment with a 🕯️ or the name of the mum or special person you are remembering this Mother’s Day, so we can honour them together.

With love and remembrance,
Dillamore Funeral Service

If you’re planning to have a real Christmas tree and live in Aylesbury, Wendover, Haddenham, Winslow, Buckingham or the surrounding villages, let Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity take care of the cleanup – while you support the Hospice.

After raising over £2,000 for the Hospice in their first Treecycling initiative last year, with just two vans, they're aiming even higher in 2026 – and need your help to make it happen!

For a small donation, they'll collect your tree right from your doorstep and deliver it to a local chipping facility. The resulting mulch is donated to local farmers, helping improve soil health and reduce waste.

Why Treecycle?
