✨ Active Birth - Upright, Frontal and Open ✨

It’s really important when you are labouring to trust and move your body. Keeping upright, frontal and open encourages your baby to move into the optimum fetal position for birth!

The Royal College of Midwives have created this fabulous visual to give you and your birth partners some clear ideas of how to move around in labour and be well supported.

✨ Caesarean Birth/Abdominal Birth ✨

We cover all types of birth on our course, including C-section/abdominal birth!

We truly believe that knowledge is power and the more informed you are going into birth, the more empowered you should feel!

A c-section is where your baby is birthed through a cut in your abdomen rather than vaginally. This process can be elective (pre-planned) or due to a complication during labour (emergency).

According to NHS direct, around 1 in 4 women have a c-section as the way of birthing their baby!

Skin-to-skin can still be carried out in theatre following the birth of your baby, so make sure you let you Midwife know if this is included in your birth preferences!

The classes are packed full of USEFUL and ESSENTIAL information which Aimee delivered in a professional and educational way without bombarding us with loads of information.

On your first visit you are given a book containing all the handouts for the coming sessions, this book has been amazing after the course has finished to go back and refresh myself on things, its sort of become my labour/baby bible and has helped us to make informed decisions on birthing plans, feeding and how we would like to parent our child.

After each session Aimee sends an e-mail packed full of links to everything that she has discussed plus more for further reading and education…being on Mat Leave I have spent my time thoroughly going over all these links to help mentally prepare myself.

Aimee is superb teacher. We cannot fault her one bit. She is warm, welcoming and friendly. She delivers her classes with 0 judgement and really no question is a silly question.

Our main aim of taking these classes was to meet other first time parents and hopefully make new friends in this next chapter of our lives. We met some lovely couples and have set a mums WhatsApp group up together to stay in touch which has been so lovely to bounce things off each other and again ask all those weird and silly questions without judgement!’

✨ What to do when your waters break ✨

This is known as a spontaneous rupture of membranes or SROM in the Midwifery world!

It is when the amniotic fluid surrounding your baby is released.

It can happen alongside contractions but can also be the first sign that labour is starting.

After 37 weeks of pregnancy, this is normal! You will be meeting your baby soon!

It’s very important to be checked out by a Midwife when it happens though so please always call your hospital.
