First Aid at Work 🚑

Last week, Lindsay delivered a NUCO First Aid at Work course at our Bury St Edmunds training centre. Using our dedicated practical training area, we gave delegates plenty of space to practise vital QCPR skills on manikins, building confidence and competence. 👏

📘 NUCO have also released an updated First Aid at Work training book, making learning even more engaging and effective!

Celebrating 5 Years with Jem at C&C Training! 💚

This week, we’re delighted to be celebrating five years since Jem joined C&C Training!

As Training Manager, Jem does an excellent job of training our delegates and looking after our trainers. His knowledge, professionalism, and friendly nature shine through in everything he does, making him a key part of our team.

To mark this milestone, we surprised Jem with a gift voucher for a stay at a beautiful hotel in the Peak District – one of his favourite places to go hiking with his family. A well-deserved treat for five fantastic years!

Become a Mental Health First Aider this September 🌿

We believe that looking after mental health is just as important as physical health, and that having the right tools can make all the difference.

That’s why, this September, we’re offering 2 spaces for the price of 1 on our Mental Health England-accredited Mental Health First Aider course (usually £325 per person).

This online training will give you the skills and confidence to:
✅ Spot early signs of poor mental health
✅ Offer initial support in a crisis
✅ Guide colleagues, friends or family towards the right help

This special offer coincides with National Su***de Prevention Week. Our hope is to encourage more people to feel confident in supporting others and creating safe spaces for conversations around mental health. 💚

CITB Grants & Funding Important Updates 🦺

CITB has announced a series of changes to simplify funding routes and ensure the most effective use of industry funds. Key updates include:

🛠️ Skills & Training Fund
From 30 September 2025, the Skills & Training fund will close. Employer Networks (ENs) will become the single channel for business development funding. Applications received in September will be subject to new payment terms, with funding released upon completion of the agreement. Existing approved applications will be honoured.

🎓 Industry Accreditation Uplift
The temporary uplift to support individuals affected by the removal of the Industry Accreditation card will now end in December 2025. From January 2026, grants for these qualifications will return to £600.

📌 ‘Suggest a Course’ Initiative
This initiative will be closing, as ENs are now established as the main route for employers to share feedback on training needs.

⏳ Short Qualification Grant Tier
From September 2025, a new grant tier will apply to ‘Award’ level short qualifications. These will be funded at £240 (rather than £600), reflecting their shorter duration and lower delivery costs.

💻 Online Grant Portal
Launching on 24 September 2025, CITB’s new online services platform will provide:

Online applications for Apprenticeship and Qualification grants
The ability to track application status
Greater control over account access

These updates are designed to make funding and training support more straightforward for employers across the construction industry.

Train to Face Fit 😷

Last week, we welcomed a great group of professionals to our Leighton Buzzard office for hands-on Face Fit Training. From learning the correct way to don tight-fitting masks to performing qualitative fit tests, it was a productive day filled with practical skills and safety know-how. ✅
