🌟 Employee of the Month – December 2025 🌟

A huge congratulations to Sarah McKay, our Employee of the Month for December! 👏

Since starting with us in November, Sarah has very quickly shown us what an integral cog she is to our wheel! Having previously gained her HR qualification, she has revamped our policies, processes and templates in this sector, has been proactive in the management of her department, built amazing relationships with her colleagues and helped kept our MD sane!

Your proactive nature, and willingness to support the business means our business and the Bury St Edmunds centre is run smoothly every day, thank you for everything you’re bringing to the team Sarah! 💚🍾

For those regular readers of our page, you'll know we celebrate our team with an Employee of the Month award, but this December we did something a little different and celebrated one person in particular, with an Employee of the Year award.

This person has gone above and beyond all year round and is exceptionally good at their job, delivers fantastic team working and really lives our culture and Values.

As part of our ongoing commitment to quality, we sent out our annual Freelance Trainer Survey to ensure we are working with them closely, and addressing any issues they face whilst working with us.

With comments such as 'C&C is a family, not a number', 'I really enjoy working with C&C', and 'Communication is better than other providers', we must be doing something right 👏

Scoring 4.17 Stars out of 5 is great, but we're now working on making it 5 out of 5!!

For the 3rd year running, we have sent our Annual Customer Satisfaction Survey out and the results received were fantastic! To know we really are living by our values is so rewarding.

With all clients scoring us highly for our Reliability, Quality, Communication, Value for Money & Efficiency, they absolutely all can't be wrong!

89% rated our Quality as Excellent, 11% as good - and compared to our competitors, 44% rated our Service as Excellent, and 56% as good.

Important update!

CITB is making to its grants and funding offer from 8 January 2026 in response to growing demand and a focus on sustainable and strategic support for the entire industry.

So, what’s changing?

Short Course Training
📍 Short course training will no longer be supported through the Grants Scheme apart from Plant Operations, Scaffolding and other specialist courses.
📍 Support will be delivered exclusively via Employer Networks
📍 Pre‑8 December bookings that are completed between 8 January and 31 March 2026 will be honoured where there is evidence provided of booking date to qualify for grant payment.

Booking Requirements
📍 Employers must contact their local adviser who will help them identify and book their training needs.

Funding via Employer Networks
📍 CITB will match fund 50% of eligible courses
📍 H&S in construction and associated courses will be supported at 30% of average market rate
📍 First Aid training will not be supported.

Qualification Grant Changes
📍 Attendance grants for long qualifications removed*
📍 Achievement grant of £600
📍 Level 7 qualifications no longer supported.
* This does not impact Level 7 Apprenticeships, or Scottish Advanced Craft Certifications which are SCQF Level 7 (equivalent to QCF Level 5.)

Large employers
📍 Will not be supported for any training via EN funding after 31 March 2026
📍 A new offer for large employers will be co-designed in early 2026 and launched from 1 April.

We’ll be closed this Friday, December 5th, from 11:00 AM onward for our Annual Team Meeting, followed by our Annual Christmas Celebrations! 🎄✨

We will be reflecting on and celebrating the successes of 2025 - and looking forward to 2026 with a view to providing an even better service to our valued clients. 👷🏻‍♂️

Be in it to Win it!

In the words of the National Lottery!! Throughout December our delegates at both our Bury St Edmunds and Leighton Buzzard centres will have the opportunity to win one of these lovely hampers in time for Christmas!

All donations are to be given to our chosen charity, The Lighthouse Charity, who support those working in Construction, and their families with mental & physical wellbeing.

Suggested donation is £1, and we even have card readers available for those that no longer carry cash.

We'll also have a bit of fun with 'Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar' - possibly another stocking filler for the lucky winner?!

Just under 21 weeks to go!!

In April 2026 our very own James Bailey is taking on the huge challenge of running the London Marathon! 🏃‍♂️

In order to raise funds for a charity that has unfortunately touched his friends and family in recent times, James will be braving the 26.2 mile course. His chosen charity is for Breast Cancer, and is part of the Breast Cancer Now London Marathon 2026 Team

As his employer, of course we wanted to support him - so we are one of his sponsors, alongside Burger Boulevard, and will also be donating to this very worthy cause.

A huge congratulations to Esther Hayward, our Employee of the Month for November! 👏

Since starting with us in July, Esther has quickly become a valued member of the team and is the face of our Leighton Buzzard centre, so if you have had training there we're sure you'll recognise her! She has provided fantastic support to the office, her department and its functions and built strong relationships with both internal and external teams.

This month we welcome Sarah McKay to the team! Despite having only been here for 3 weeks, she is well and truly getting stuck into her role of Sales Admin/Centre Manager & PA to the MD at our Bury St Edmunds centre, so if you're visiting please do feel free to come and say Hi to her!

Sarah comes with a wealth of office management and HR skills and experience, and is already helping to keep our MD sane! 👏

We have recently taken our training to the North, and will now be delivering various Health & Safety courses in Nottingham! Drawing on our extensive knowledge of the Health and Safety, Plant and Construction, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, HR, IT and Driving fields, we have a continued passion to support businesses by developing and delivering first class training.
