Rachel Fawcett Soft Tissue Therapy and Sports Massage

Rachel Fawcett Soft Tissue Therapy and Sports Massage Qualified Sports Massage & Soft Tissue Therapist for the treatment of pain and muscular dysfunction caused by sports, postural and occupational factors.

Treatment available from studio in Leighton Buzzard. I am a Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapist based in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire offering sports massage, pregnancy massage and gait analysis from my home studio. After graduating from Loughborough University with a BSc in Sports Science and PE, I joined the Army and spent 16 years serving all over the world. Once I had left the military, I qualified as a Personal Trainer with Referred Populations running numerous boot camps and post natal fitness classes. I have always run and love being out on the trails and in 2013 I started competing in Ultra Marathons. It was this exposure to extreme endurance competition which prompted me to look harder at how to prevent and treat injury, eventually leading me to complete a Level 5 Diploma in Sports Massage and Soft Tissue Therapy with the Oxford School of Sports Massage. I am a specialist in post running repairs, have an active ageing qualification and am also trained to treat frozen shoulder which is quite common in the 50 + demographic. I am now in the position where I can combine my love of sport and running with massaging and rehabilitating others. I help treat sports, occupational and postural pain and discomfort through massage and soft tissue techniques. I aid the rehabilitation process and help get people back to their sport, make their working lives more comfortable or simply keep them out doing their sports. I am also lucky enough to occasionally write for Outdoor Fitness magazine on running stuff.

Great weekend out with Canary Trail Events on their Copthorne 50 looped event. What a fantastic race with brilliant volunteers, loved it. Pretty chuffed to have got first female with a new course record too. So overall, not too shabby.

At 48 I’ve decided that I’m going down fighting, I’ve got a few more podiums and big races in me and I need to be smashing them out of the park. So book this summer was my holiday read. It’s the book that all women, fit or unfit should read. It’s also the book which all PT’s need to read to better understand clients and learn how to train them efficiently. I’ve changed my training as a result and have started to build Dr Sims’ philosophies into clients training.

I love this .

So it’s been an insane week. I came out to Chamonix on weds to get ready to run the UTMB; 100 miles based out from Chamonix but taking in Switzerland, Italy as well as France. One of the biggest and most iconic races in the works, it’s a race which I’ve wanted to do since I started ultra running and it was everything I had hoped and more. The French were incredible; lining the streets for miles and miles shouting and cheering us, it is hospitality and genuine enthusiasm which I will always remember. Loads of people out at this years events so lovely to catch up with people, most importantly and . Been great to share your races and so incredible to have people on the finish line for mine. And of course I have to mention the mountains which were beautiful and unforgiving in equal measure. Just over 10,000m of climb and, as any runner will tell you, descents which pushed me to my limits, It’s the first time I have ever truly wondered if I have it in me to complete, completion was the only goal. But I could have done none of this without my amazing husband and my kids. Without Team Fawcett, none of this can happen so a big thank you for all your support. Right, need to find a beer!!

So up the mountain on the cable car to get some altitude. It was glorious up there although I’m debating whether the crowds and the queuing were worth it. I think they were.

Just want to say a massive thank you to for the 100km summer series race yesterday. From clear joining instructions right the way through to a buzzing finish, it was a great event. The course marking was next level and the GPX spot on, with all the twists and turns, it could have been a very different event if this hasn’t been so good. I’ve never had an outright win before and to come in 90 mins before the first bloke is something I’ll remember for a long time. An excellent and very challenging course, it’s def one for people to put on their ‘to do’ list.
