An assessment is about understanding the situation, looking at tongue function, and exploring all of the factors that may be affecting a baby’s feeding.

Sometimes a procedure is helpful, and sometimes other support makes the biggest difference.

The goal is always informed, supported decision making.

Many families I meet have been given different opinions about tongue tie by various people. This can make it tricky for them to know whether tongue tie is the main issue, or just a piece of the puzzle (and to know whether or not they should have it treated)!

What’s certain, is that feeding support is always a priority.

Such a lovely two days at the Lactation Consultants Great Britain (LCGB) 30th anniversary conference! It was wonderful meeting new people and listening to so many exceptional speakers. Just a brilliant event all round.
