First Contact Physiotherapy

A First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) is a specialist physiotherapist who can see patients
with musculoskeletal (MSK) problems.

FCP’s are trained to assess and diagnose patients with routine and complex MSK problems which can include:

Soft tissue injuries
Arthritis
Problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons, or bones
Spinal problems -lower back/neck pain
Spinal related pain in arms or legs, including nervous symptoms
Frozen Shoulder
Tennis elbow
Sciatica
Carpel tunnel
Sprains, sports injuries
They can give advice, guidance, and self-management. As well as tailored rehabilitation
plans

If the FCP feels you need a follow up treatment, this can be arranged by your FCP or your Practice.

First Contact Physio’s requests can be made through your Practice eConsult service or directly with Health Connections, telephone number 01525 300780.

First Contact Physio appointments are carried at the Leighton Buzzard Health Centre in Bassett Road which is managed by Leighton-Linslade Health Connections.
Leighton-Linslade Health Connections support the three town practices, Bassett Road Surgery, Leighton Road Surgery and Salisbury House Surgery by offering various primary care support roles including First Contact Physio assessments to help patients take ownership of their healthcare and connect them to their community.

World Pharmacists Day (25 September) marks the anniversary of the inception of FIP in 1912 and was adopted by the FIP Council in 2009. As such, the World Pharmacists Day campaign is led by FIP every year, with the theme chosen by the FIP Bureau. In 2020, FIP also created World Pharmacy Week, extending the celebrations of the entire profession and overtly encompassing all sectors of the pharmacy profession. Any reference to “World Pharmacists Day” or “World Pharmacy Week” should, therefore, include FIP.
