Thank Friday It's Radio ECHO takes flight again this week, Friday February 27th.

Last week, the team were a few players down but they didn't let the stress get to them - except for Producer Nick, as you can see here. Let's hope he's calmed down by this Friday, ready for you to join us:

Join Zoom Meeting
https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89607413770?pwd=QE5LlTRRJoGtQPKuPTQT55aZlwBF5y.1
Meeting ID: 896 0741 3770
Passcode: 807448

We hope the whole team will be back to help decide the tunes played on the show through some devilish musical challenges and through the choices made in their own Secret Song Stashes.

If you would like to be part of the show live in the studio, we always welcome listeners to form The People's Panel, and help make those music choices. If you would like to do that, contact us on the number below.

Also, a reminder that there are spaces on the presenting team - if you'd like to be on the air (no experience necessary!) call the ECHO office on 01568 620307 for details

Hope to see you Friday

Fun and friendship at ECHO. Why not get in touch for day activity opportunities or volunteering? Would you like a new sense of purpose for 2026?
WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!

Make a positive difference to the lives of adults with disabilities?

Have fun and meet new people?

Learn new skills?

If so, then StEP into volunteering with ECHO!

“People come to me with their own reasons for wanting to volunteer. Even more important than giving back to the local community is to get what YOU need from the experience. People may need a reason to get up in the morning, or they feel lonely or isolated, or they may want to find their ‘new normal’ following a bereavement. Whatever the reason, volunteers always find what they are looking for. I call this the ‘magic of ECHO’.”

Roz Johnson, Volunteer Manager (StEP)

We are always looking for more volunteers and would love to hear from you. Please contact the ECHO office on 01568 620307 or email roz.johnson@echoherefordshire.co.uk to make an enquiry or ask for more details.

The StEP team will support you every step of the way, from initial meeting to active volunteering. The role of an ECHO volunteer is dependent on the project you choose to volunteer at, therefore training will be tailored to the individual.

“Volunteering with ECHO helped me to build my skillset and confidence, and I now work in the Health and Social Care sector!”

Former Eaton Barn Volunteer

We also welcome students 16+ to join us to gain work experience with ECHO in partnership with your place of learning.

Cooking with Company have been very busy
making spaghetti and meatballs and pancakes. After writing our shopping list and getting the ingredients we split into Team Meatballs and Team Pancakes! Lunch went down well and we made pancakes for LifeLinks as well, with a gluten free option for Paul. Lots of fun and laughter as always

If you have a child or young person with complex disabilities, did you know you can receive support from the Children with Disabilities team at Herefordshire Council?

Referral for assessment is usually suggested and made by a professional involved with your child's care, such as a GP, teacher or social worker. But families can also request a referral if they think their child is eligible and would like to talk to a member of the team for advice and support.

You may remember that last month there was a Wassail procession and ceremony in Stoke Prior, in aid of ECHO funds.

Some 100 or so revellers made their way with lanterns from the The Lamb Inn Stoke Prior to a nearby orchard, where there was dancing and singing and cider and apple cake!

It was a very special evening and ECHO would like to thank the The Lamb Inn Stoke Prior and everyone who helped organise the event.

Pictured here is ECHO Fundraising Officer Penny Weir with organisers Mike & Jayne Haywood. Penny said, 'We are delighted with the £222.52 donated to ECHO from this event. The organisers say they would try and increase that total next year, which is fantastic!'

Many thanks again to everyone involved.
