We are excited for Steps to Employment Project part of ECHO's great Duck Race on July 25. But how to get involved?

All you have to do is buy a duck (or ducks) for £2 each which will then be entered into our fabulous duck race along the river Lugg by Studio Mirai on Saturday 25th July.

We hope you’ll come along and cheer our little yellow friends as they battle it out along the river. There will be stalls and activities alongside the race, so come along and make a day of it.

🎧📻 Radio ECHO says, ‘All the way to 11!!’ (Yes, even if you “don’t normally touch the volume.”) 📻🎧

Brace yourselves…

It’s about to get loud, wild, and only mildly controlled, at best 😜

An amazing opportunity to become a fully qualified football coach, with a fully supported, 10 hours a week, paid apprenticeship

The StEP are offering people the chance to sign up for a Community Activator Coach 3 year paid apprenticeship. For £100 a week, people will spend 10 hours a week completing the apprenticeship to become a football coach. This will include 2 hours with a specialist SEND 1:1 mentor to work on their portfolio. The other 8 hours will be spent learning how to be a football coach and time spent in the gym or playing football counts towards the 10 hours as well.

💙 One of our own is taking on a huge challenge for ECHO! 💙

Sue Palliser, our incredible StEP Volunteer Coordinator, is swapping her bicycle for running shoes as she trains to complete a half marathon in support of ECHO.

Sue first joined ECHO as a volunteer in 2022 and quickly fell in love with the charity’s mission. Since then, she’s become a valued part of the team, witnessing firsthand the difference ECHO makes in people’s lives every single day.

Now, as she looks ahead to retirement in 2027, Sue wants to leave a lasting legacy for the participants who have inspired her so much.

Here’s what our Sue had to say:

“I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand how our work changes lives. I want to raise funds for a very special project — the Social & Leisure camping trip to Oaker Wood. Every penny raised will help give our participants an unforgettable outdoor adventure. I’ve given my heart to this charity for years — now I’m giving my legs!”

👏 Please help support Sue on this amazing journey and sponsor her half marathon challenge.

Need to recover from the weekend by having a boogie in your living room? 🕺💃

Then Radio ECHO: Live! is back tomorrow (May 19) at 1.30pm and, frankly, your afternoon plans have just been made.

Expect great tunes, questionable dance moves, and the usual high-end production values. And by “high-end” we mean someone may still get sent to the underground switching room to sort the camera angle 😄 Don't know what you're grinning at, Presenter Dan, it could be you...

Also:
👀 Will there be Buried Treasure?
🚔 Will Cliff get early release from Uncool Jail? (don’t get your hopes up)
🎥 Who’ll draw the short straw on camera duty?

All this and more revealed tomorrow — don’t miss it!
