You may know that ECHO runs Sound & Vision Hub as a regular activity on Thursdays from 9.30am - 3.30pm.

It is a ‘hands on’ project, where participants learn about digital video recording and editing, sound recording, audio editing, creating music, and soundtracks, photography, taking images and more.

ECHO usually works with people aged 18 and above but for this project will consider place for anyone 16 or older.

If you like IT, design, working with cameras and computers, then Sound & Vision Hub is for you! There are spaces available and taster sessions can be arranged - please get in touch to find out more and book in.

Welcome to LifeLinks 2026...

Happy New Year! A quiet day at LifeLinks yesterday on our return. Some chair exercise and a chance to have a good catchup with what everyone has been doing over Christmas. Iain and David did a great job of making the drinks and Laura did all the washing up!

A New Year message from ECHO's Chief Officer, Mike Cook...

'A big thank you to all of our staff, volunteers and supporters who help to make ECHO the wonderful place it is. We couldn’t do it without you.

For ECHO to continue we need to keep developing and reviewing what we do. Already we know there will be some changes this year as we move forwards with our new building, ECHO Smart Space.

Our teams are very creative and we want to look at what opportunities are out there build on our successes, review what can be improved and think about what new things we can do to keep our activities fresh and attract new participants to ECHO.

So thank you all once again for your hard work and I look forward to 2026 and all the things amazing we are going to do!'

A reminder that the Radio ECHO teams are preparing for a new adventure in 2026 as they leave their base of the last two years and move into the new ECHO Smart Space!

Their Minions have completely cleared Radio ECHO Towers this week and set up a temporary studio in the new venue - however, it won't be ready for a broadcast this Friday with the TFI team, as they will be opening boxes, working out the WiFi and planning a new programme of broadcasts.

Meanwhile, Radio ECHO: Live! will possibly broadcast on Tuesday January 6th if the set up in ECHO Smart Space goes well - keep an eye on the ECHO page for details.

Meanwhile, the whole Radio ECHO team would like to thank everyone who has listened to and supported the show in 2025 and wishes everyone a very happy New Year - here's to 2026!

ECHO & lockdown

At ECHO we have carried on providing a service to all our members during the lockdown. We might not be able to meet in person but staff and volunteers have worked hard to find alternative ways to keep everyone connected and entertained. There have been hundreds of welfare calls and regular check-ins to make sure no one is left feeling isolated or without support. We have put together lesson packs so people can carry on with adult learning courses and kept the fun going with activity parcels delivered to homes. Other ideas moved online with videos, chats and coffee mornings so we could see each other. It has meant a lot of changes in a short space of time but our message was clear - ECHO is here for you.
