Meet The Team - Mark Pierce

Mark joined R.W. Mann & Son Funeral Directors after a long career as a gunsmith, following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. He’s also worked for the Royal Mail and The Central Bakery in more recent years. As a gunsmith and baker he practiced showing care, intricacy and patience, qualities he continues to show in his role with us at R.W. Mann.
He’s proud of his job and enjoys working alongside a wonderful team that make a difference in the community.
Mark is a Funeral Service Operative here at R.W. Mann and he is responsible for caring for your loved ones, chauffeuring families, and assisting you throughout your time with us.
When he’s not at work, Mark bakes banana bread, loses golf balls in the rough, and shakes his head in despair as he watches his beloved West Bromwich Albion.

Our branch is now a Donation Point for Hay Animal Rescue Team - HART.
We have been asked for donations of cat and dog food, litter and old comfort teddies, please bring along to branch between 9-5 Monday to Friday.
Any donations will be very gratefully recieved and collected by the team of volunteers ❣️

• Interesting funeral fact •

The tradition of wearing black to a funeral is believed to date back to the Roman period, where individuals would wear a dark toga (known as a toga pulla) after the passing of a loved one or family member.

This tradition persisted throughout British history, with the Victorians in particular favouring black as the colour of mourning (source: HL Marks Memorial).
