This event is open to all our residents their families and friends.

We will have life music with Elvis 15:00-16:00
We wil be serving freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs for just £2.50!
We will have a raffle and a craft stall with unique handmade items.

Yesterday we celebrated Jamaica Day 🇯🇲 as part of our culture celebrations

There was singing 🎵 dancing 💃 karaoke 🎤
Staff brought in traditional Jamaican food for everyone to try and everyone very much enjoyed the food.

We also celebrated a very special birthday 🎁

At Caring Homes, we have always prided ourselves on the food offering we provide to residents living in our homes, focusing on high quality, nutritional and enjoyable meals. Our Group Head Chef, Steve and Head of Hospitality, Ben are always looking to continually improve this and make our residents experience of food in our care homes delicious and memorable. Over the last few months, they have come up with some new various initiatives.

One of them is a delicious new initiative that brings fresh, seasonal produce to the heart of our residents’ dining experience! 💚

Each month, we’ll be spotlighting a Seasonal Food Hero, one fruit and one vegetable, that’s at its best that time of year. Our brilliant chefs will be creating tasty new dishes each week featuring these ingredients, giving our residents even more variety, flavour and nutrition in their meals. 🍽️

Not only is this great for our residents’ health and wellbeing, but it also brings a bit of fun and creativity into our kitchens. Using British-grown produce at its seasonal peak means better quality and more sustainable meals too! But we get the residents involved too! Residents have been busy foraging for wild berries local to their home!

Keep an eye out for the delicious dishes our homes will be serving up every week and give a cheer for our amazing kitchen teams! 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

🌾 Fresh bakes, new skills, and lots of fun! 🧑‍🍳🍞

Last week, 11 of our amazing chefs and kitchen assistants from across the Caring Homes Group took part in a fantastic Chef Bakery Masterclass at Newlyns Farm Shop, Café & Cookery School in Hampshire and what a day it was!

The goal? To step out of the kitchen and into a learning space where they could develop new skills like baking fresh brioche buns, white loaves and even homemade donuts! The session focused on using fresh produce, exploring new ingredients and learning how to fortify recipes for our residents’ nutritional needs.

A few of our superstars stood out:
🍔 Burger & brioche champ – Jeff (Kitchen Assistant, The Orchard Nursing Home)
🍞 White loaf winner – Chef B (Head Chef, Sanford House Nursing Home)
🍩 Donut duo – Nadia & Tatiana (Benson House Care Home)
🌟 All-round star – Ellie (Kitchen Assistant, Cotman House Care Home)

Everyone left with big smiles, full hearts and a hand-picked goodie bag from the farm shop! We can’t wait to see these delicious new skills brought into our care homes for our residents to enjoy! 💙

🍰 The Signature Cake Off is back! 🎉

At Caring Homes, we don’t just care for our residents, we bake joy into every day! We're excited to announce the launch of our 2025 Signature Cake Off Competition; a much-loved event that brings together our talented chefs, team members and residents to create a showstopping cake for our cherished ‘High Tea at 3’ experience. ☕

Last year’s winner, a delicious Courgette & Lemon Cake from Horsell Lodge Care Home's own Chef Gavin Speller, which now takes pride of place on our weekly High Tea Trolley and it’s safe to say our residents are still talking about it! 💛

This year, the competition is back and bigger than ever. Teams from across the country will soon be whisking, folding and icing their way to the finals, where a resident-inspired creation will be crowned our new signature cake.

We can’t wait to see the creativity, passion and teamwork that this competition inspires and most importantly, to celebrate the joy these bakes bring to the residents we care for.
