Health & Independent Living Support (HILS) is a not-for-profit, charitable, Social Enterprise that was established in 2007 to provide meals on wheels and caring services for people in Hertfordshire, to support their independence. We deliver meals every day, offering a 365 day service across Hertfordshire, West Sussex, Bedfordshire and Hampshire. Clients in Hertfordshire can receive County Council-subsidised meals if they meet certain criteria but we also accept other clients. Our customer service teams will be happy to advise you about the service in your area. You can contact them via the telephone numbers below:

Patients should not put off coming forward for care as usual during this week’s resident doctors’ strikes.

Anyone who needs urgent but not life-threatening care should use NHS 111, where they will be directed to the most appropriate service for their needs.

Patients with life-threatening emergencies should continue to call 999 or attend A&E as normal. Services will continue to be open.

Industrial action begins at 7am on Tuesday 7 April and runs for six days until 7am on Monday 13 April.

Today is World Health Day and it's a reminder that everyone deserves the chance to live well.
At HILS, we’re proud to support our communities with services that make everyday wellbeing more achievable - from meals on wheels and nutrition support, to exercise at home sessions, advocacy and crisis support.
Together, we’re helping people stay happy, healthy and independent in their homes.

We're sad to announce that we have had to cancel our HILS Ultra Quiz on Friday 10th April in Letchworth. Apologies to those who were already cramming to ensure victory!

However, our Friendship House- HILS quiz in Hatfield is still very much going ahead! We have some amazing prizes lined up, so to secure your spot get in touch with Carla today (carla.daley@hils-uk.org, or call on 07394 082183). Tickets are £5 per person for a table of 6, bring your own drinks and the the option to pre-order fish and chips for £9.99.

Final Day of the HILS Hydration Challenge! 🎉💧

Jamie and Kathy have made it to the finish line and are sharing their final thoughts after a week of focusing on hydration and wellbeing.

It’s been great seeing colleagues across the organisation getting involved, building small daily habits, and supporting each other along the way.

A huge well done to everyone who took part – every refill, reminder, and water break counts!
