When you or the wee ones have spent time in long grass, bracken or woodland, do a full tick check. Especially in these sneaky spots:

Hairline and scalp
Behind the ears
Back of the neck
Armpits
Belly button
Waistline
Groin area
Between the legs
Behind the knees
Between the toes

🌞🌞

It has been warm one today! 🌞 And with the forecast looking good for the weekend ahead🤞, it’s the perfect time for a quick reminder about staying safe in the sun.

If you do get sunburnt:
❄️ Cool the skin with a cold compress or a cool bath/shower
🥤 Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated
💊 Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to ease any pain
⛱️ Stay out of the sun and cover up the affected skin until it’s healed
🧑‍⚕️ And remember, your local pharmacy team is always here for advice.

To help avoid sunburn in the first place:
🧴 Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (UVA/UVB) with SPF 30 or higher every day
⏰ Apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before heading out, and top it up every 2 hours
🏠 Stick to the shade, especially between 10am and 4pm
😎 Wear a hat, UV-blocking sunglasses and light, protective clothing

Sepsis can affect anyone — but the signs in children can be different to those in adults.

Here are the signs of sepsis in children: call 999 or visit A&E if a child has one of the sepsis symptoms and Just Ask: Could it be Sepsis?

For those under five, sepsis warning signs can include:
🚼 Not feeding
🤢 Vomiting repeatedly
🚫 Not passing urine for 12 hours

Knowing the signs could save a life. If you are ever concerned, seek urgent medical advice.

We're holding a pop-up smear clinic on Tuesday 13 May at Brechin Health Centre for women and anyone with a cervix aged 25-65 who is overdue or has never had a smear test.
The clinic is open to all patients registered with a GP practice in Tayside, you don't have to be a patient at Brechin Health Centre to attend.
Appointments can be booked by calling 01356 624411 or just drop in between 5.30 and 7.30pm for screening.
