If you’d told me a few years ago I’d be interested in remedial work and actually fixing problems… I wouldn’t have believed you.
Working in a spa, all I ever wanted was to relax people and give them an amazing experience.
I loved my spa career, but it never really taught me anything. I learned lots of routines through brand trainings (which I loved), but it was all techniques that felt nice — no real knowledge behind them.
You never see guests twice in that environment, so I never got feedback. I didn’t know if I’d helped — just sent them on their way and onto the next.
When I went self-employed, I was terrified. I had no confidence in my skills. I knew I could give a good relaxing massage, but if someone came with pain? Anxiety. I’d basically say “I can massage and see what happens, but I’m not trained in that so… don’t expect miracles” 😂
Then people started rebooking. Telling me how good I was… and eventually how much I’d helped their pain. I’ve even helped people come off painkillers they’d been on for ages.
It’s been 3 years now and I’m confident I can help — but only to a point. I didn’t have the knowledge. It was all intuition. I knew I was helping, but not how. It was just a by-product of my massage.
About a year ago, a client told me about Scott Robertson Bodywork . I’d never heard of him, but everything he shared just clicked. So I sent him a (slightly cheeky) message asking if he’d teach me how to actually find and fix the problem — so I could help intentionally, not just guess.
Luckily… he took it well 😂 and had already been thinking about teaching.
And even better — Adele Stevenson from Revival Therapies had asked him around the same time to mentor her too.
So this week… we finally did it ❤️
