📢 Practice Update – Important Clarification
We are aware of a post currently circulating online regarding recent changes within our practice, and we would like to offer some clarification and reassurance for our patients.
As many patients will be aware, Kennoway Medical Group and Methilhaven Surgery merged in October 2025. Prior to November 2025, both practices were managed directly by NHS Fife. From 3 November 2025, responsibility for management transferred to Deuchar Williams Health under the name East Fife Medical. Like most GP practices across Scotland, we now operate as a GP partnership, funded by the NHS, and continue to work closely with NHS Fife to deliver local services to our patients.
Randolph Wemyss Memorial Hospital (formerly Methilhaven Surgery Site) continues to host clinics on specific days. However, the main administrative and reception team is now based at the East Fife Medical Kennoway site, which allows us to manage resources more effectively across the merged practice. Patients requiring urgent same day assessment may be asked to attend Kennoway, depending on clinical need and availability.
We understand that travel can be challenging for some patients. Plans are being explored across the Levenmouth area to improve access and registration flexibility in the future.
🩺Appointments
We would like to clarify that same day appointments for urgent medical concerns remain available.
The key change patients may notice is for routine (non-urgent) issues. Instead of being asked to phone back at 8am on another day, our team now offers the next available pre-bookable appointment. This aims to reduce frustration and provide more certainty for patients.
💊Prescriptions
Prescription requests should be made at least 7 days before running out. This allows safe processing by the practice and pharmacy. During this period, staff may not be able to provide individual progress updates, as requests are handled in order.
👩⚕️Our Staff
The merger has brought together two patient populations, and like many practices nationwide, we are working through staffing pressures while recruiting and welcoming new clinicians. These changes affect our staff as well as our patients, and we kindly ask everyone to treat our team with patience and respect. Abuse toward staff is never acceptable.
This merger is still relatively new, and we continue to review how our systems work so we can improve services for everyone. We appreciate your understanding while we do this and thank our patients for their continued support.
If you have concerns or questions, please contact our team directly.
