When things feel overwhelming, action doesn’t mean doing everything. It means doing one small thing that helps you, today.

If drugs or alcohol are affecting your mental health, even the smallest pause can be a powerful step in taking care of you.

Take a deep breath
Try a small walk or get some fresh air
Ask for support if you need it

Small steps add up. Withyou in Fife are here when you’re ready.

We have some exciting news to share.
WithYou in Scotland has been named a finalist for Scottish Charity of the Year at the SCVO Scottish Charity Awards. 🏆
This nomination belongs to every person who's reached out to one of our services.
Nobody should feel ashamed for seeking support with drugs, alcohol or mental health. Awards like this help show that asking for help takes courage and is something to be proud of.
It also belongs to all our staff and volunteers who show up for the people they support, each and every day. And it's a reminder that the services standing alongside them are worth celebrating. 💙

This , we’re talking about what it means to take ‘action’, but mental health action doesn’t have to be big.

It can start with a question. A check-in. A real conversation.

If someone you care about is struggling with alcohol, drugs or their mental health - listening without judgement can be life-changing.

This week, take action, no matter how big or small: reach out to one person to ask how they really are.

Not sure where to start? You can chat to a trained webchat advisor for free, confidential advice. Visit wearewithyou.org.uk

Alex's story is inspiring.

After four decades navigating drug and alcohol challenges, prison, and homelessness, he graduated last week from the Scottish Drugs Forum's National Traineeship, a nine-month, salaried programme that helps people with lived experience build careers in the sector.

Alex was one of several graduates who completed placements with us. May Riddell, also featured in the article, did her first placement with WithYou 14 years ago. She now runs her own therapy business.

Both said they felt welcomed from day one and found the experience genuinely enjoyable. That means a great deal to us.

We're proud to support programmes like this. Lived experience is not a barrier, it's a strength. And it's exactly the kind of insight that makes our services better.

Thomas Delaney came to Scotland seven years ago to get help with his ketamine addiction.
Today, he's a father, a university graduate, and a public speaker working to show others that recovery is possible.
His journey, the turning points, and what it takes to change your life, is well worth a read.

Thomas Delaney’s addiction issues started when he was a teen and worsened through his 20s. Eventually, an argument with his mother led him to change everything
