❤️ A powerful reminder on Brighton seafront ❤️
A new red bench has appeared on Madeira Terraces in Kemptown, and it carries a story that really matters.
The bench forms part of a UK-wide project by the British Heart Foundation, celebrating 65 years of life-saving research by sharing the voices of people who have survived heart and circulatory disease.
One of those stories is from right here in Brighton & Hove. As a child, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at school and survived because someone nearby knew CPR. Today, he’s 16 — in education, planning for university, and living the normal teenage life that once felt so uncertain.
These red benches are being placed in hometowns across the country as living memorials — not to loss, but to survival, research and the people who step in when it matters most. Brighton & Hove is proud to be one of those locations.

Thank you to the British Heart Foundation for bringing this campaign to life, and to Cllr Gary Wilkinson for sharing it ❤️
