Nature Cure - Herb Walk
Saturday 15th June 2 pm - 4 pm
Meet at the Herbalist's House
for a walk on Landport Bottom
Booking essential - £10 per person (sorry no dogs). Please email kym.herbs@gmail.com to secure your place.

Come for a gentle walk with me to learn more about the plants growing around us, where we can learn to identify individual and associated plant families. We will have time to ponder and wonder about their long usage throughout human history whether as food, medicine or useful materials in everyday life. Alongside the scientific Latin names we may find that some of the old folk names may help us find Touch & Heal, Carpenter's W**d, or the Mother of Worts. I hope you will go home with a greater understanding of the abundant medicine chest that grows around us on the unique chalk downland.

HERB WORKSHOPS & WALKS

1. HERBAL MEDICINE IN THE HOME - ONE-DAY WORKSHOP
20th April 10 am - 3 pm St Peter's Church Hall, Offham nr Lewes
Cost £120 - includes all materials

We often do not realise how much is medicinally useful within our kitchen, garden and around us out on a walk. This one-day workshop is designed to increase your knowledge and confidence in making and using herbal medicine. For much of human history, the knowledge of how to treat things that commonly afflicted members of a household would be handed down through the generations. While this lineage has been disrupted with the mechanistic medical model, traditional Western Medical Herbalists such as Kym Murden, believe this knowledge is accessible to all and enables families to understand many of their health needs are within their own hands.

Do you want to expand your understanding and usage of herbal medicine for yourself and your household, but find reading all those online blogs and books leaves you a bit lost and without enough confidence to know what to do? Why not think of joining this new evening class that will cover one herb at a time with a view to creating embedded knowledge and understanding about the herbs from a broad perspective, and not the endless reductive clinical model? We will engage in understanding the herbs from many aspects, including where and how they grow best; where they grow; folklore and historical perspectives – have they changed or do they still inform our use today; along with understanding their actions on our bodies, with some basic medicinal science and herbal therapeutics involved. We will also get to taste and explore the different ways you can use herbs effectively at home.

They will take place in the Herbal Clinic in East Way, Lewes, thus while spaces will have to be booked it means we are ensured a friendly, engaged, and supportive evening.
