Government plans to end the existence of an independent voice for patients and service users in health and social care have come under challenging scrutiny today with the publication of a major new report by the respected think tank, the King’s Fund.

Today’s King’s Fund Report “The Future of Patient Voice; Learning from the Healthwatch Model” underlines that a key strength of Healthwatch is its independence of the system, giving it credibility with the public.

We investigated the barriers facing disabled people in Lancashire when it comes to travelling to, and accessing, health and social care services🏥

Some of our key findings included difficulties navigating transport costs, poor public transport links, difficulty booking transport, and long journey times.

During our Disability, Transport and Accessibility project, most participants reported experiencing difficulties, including cost, poor public transport links, difficulty booking transport, and long journey times.

These barriers are putting disabled people at risk of missing appointments entirely, which means not receiving the care they need.
