We are seeing a rise in measles cases in parts of England. Vaccination is the most effective way to protect children from serious illness.

We’re encouraging parents to check their children are up to date with their vaccinations.

Following the recent outbreak of Meningitis B, we would advise patients to visit the following to gain more information on what you need to know. https://ukhsa.blog.gov.uk/2026/03/18/meningitis-b-outbreak-what-you-need-to-know/

Meningitis can be very serious if not treated quickly.

Symptoms of meningitis develop suddenly and can include:

- a high temperature (fever)
- being sick
- a headache
- a rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it (but a rash will not always develop)
- a stiff neck
- a dislike of bright lights
- drowsiness or unresponsiveness
- seizures (fits)

These symptoms can appear in any order. You do not always get all the symptoms.

Call 999 for an ambulance or go to your nearest A&E immediately if you think you or someone you look after could have meningitis or sepsis.

Trust your instincts and do not wait for all the symptoms to appear or until a rash develops.

Someone with meningitis or sepsis can get a lot worse very quickly.

Check out the NHS website for more.

🆕 There’s lots of chat about chickenpox and childhood vaccinations right now.
Here's what you need to know:

🔹 chickenpox protection has been added to the NHS vaccine offer for children.
🔹 some children will have a single vaccine to protect against measles, mumps, rubella – and chickenpox (MMRV).
🕐 Check the pic above to see what vaccination your child is due, and when. And don't worry – your GP will contact you nearer the time.
