Lazily resharing these tips for the hot weather ☀️ stay cool folks 😎
🥵 H E A T + B A B I E S = S T R E S S 🥵
Am I right?!
It can feel SO overwhelming trying to work out how to keep your littles cool in the summer (or one day of summer ☀️)
Here are a few tips:
🔥 0.5 & 1 tog sleeping bags- these are a game changer! They’re as thin as a cotton sheet and perfect teamed with a cotton vest or just a nappy 🩲
Extra large muslin squares are also fantastic as a cover at sleep times. Light and breathable- I love Aden & Anais or M&S 🙌🏼
🔥 Keep rooms cool- close blinds/curtains if the sun is on the room, and the window open. Put a fan in the room to keep the air moving but don’t direct it onto baby directly. Bowls of iced water in front of a fan can act as a homemade A/C unit 💨 🧊
🔥 DON’T cover the buggy/pushchair- draping fabric, even a thin muslin, will cause the temperature to soar for baby underneath, and is incredibly dangerous for them 🛑
🔥 Expect them to want to feed little and more often. Just like we need more fluids when it’s hot, baby will need this too. Babies who are breastfeeding will want to feed more often, and so will those who have formula. Remember, never water down their formula but you can offer a little cool boiled water between feeds to babies (even under 6 months) if they’re bottle fed 💦
🔥 Keep babies under 6 months out of the direct sun. Little fans for their buggies can help to keep them cool, but you’ll find they’ll get hot and sticky with sun cream on, so best to keep them inside or in the shade ☂️
