AWARE NI support group meet fortnightly at the Roe Valley Therapy Centre, please reach out if you are needing the support.

Bipolar is a lifelong mental illness characterised by changes in mood and energy that go far beyond most people’s everyday experiences of feeling happy or sad.

On average, it takes 9.5 years for someone to receive an accurate diagnosis of bipolar. During that time, too many people experience misdiagnosis, inappropriate care and support.

This can have devastating consequences, such as the loss of relationships, jobs, homes, and in some tragic cases, their lives.

These statistics are sobering, but this we want to highlight that behind each and every one of these figures is a person - someone with loved ones who care about them, with dreams, passions and aspirations, and who deserves access to the right care and support.

If you’re living with bipolar, can relate to any of the main symptoms, or are currently awaiting diagnosis, we’re here to support you.
