Soft tissue work during prep isn’t just about recovery. It’s a critical tool for improving muscular function, symmetry, and ultimately, presentation on stage.
Client: Dale
Dale initially came in with difficulty flaring his right lat and engaging his front delt, alongside some noticeable asymmetries during posing. In our session, we prioritised improving range and tissue quality through several key areas:
• Released restrictions through the right upper trap to support better scapular movement
• Addressed hip extension to improve overall posture and pelvic positioning
• Despite good thoracic mobility, we identified significant restriction through the right rib cage, limiting lat flare and expansion
• Focused on abdominal tissue release and improved cervical lateral rotation, which was being limited by the right trap
We also incorporated specific mind-to-muscle connection cues to help Dale reestablish better neuromuscular control through the lats.
📸 As seen in the post-session photos:
• The right lat is flaring significantly better
• Improved fullness in the right pec
• Overall posing symmetry is visibly improved
While soft tissue work won’t create perfection in a single session, the improvements in this case were clear and immediate and a reflection of Dale Bowman consistency and focus outside the clinic as well.
It’s always a pleasure to work with athletes who are committed to refining every detail. Thank you for trusting the process, Dale. 👏🏼
