Andrew Turnbull Dip.FD Independent Funeral Celebrant

Andrew Turnbull Dip.FD Independent Funeral Celebrant As an Independent Funeral Celebrant, I specialise in crafting personalised funeral services.

I collaborate closely with families to honour their loved one's life, ensuring the ceremony reflects cherished memories and meets their unique needs. Since 2008, I have been dedicated to funeral services, gaining a profound understanding of supporting grieving families during their most difficult times. As an Independent Funeral Celebrant, a role I find both rewarding and fulfilling. My approach is to create personalised funeral service that honours the life of a loved one. By working closely with families, reflecting on cherished memories, and using words and music, I tailor ceremonies to meet their unique needs. This process not only commemorates their loved ones life, but also supports the grieving process for those left behind. I possess a nationally recognised Diploma in Funeral Directing from the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Leadership and Management from the University of Lincoln, which I achieved while working full-time. In my career, I have had the privilege of officiating services at various local crematoria, including those in Lincoln, Lea Fields, Sherwood Forest, Boston, Grantham, Alford, Scunthorpe, and Mansfield, as well as conducting graveside services at numerous cemeteries.

⚠️ Severe winter weather warning for Lincolnshire drivers – TONIGHT ❄️

Drivers are being warned to prepare for some of the worst road conditions in years as a unique weather pattern moves into Lincolnshire later today.

🌧️ Rising temperatures followed by rain and sleet are expected to wash away salt already on the roads, before temperatures drop sharply again, leading to the risk of widespread sheet ice across the county.

🚛 Our full gritting fleet will be out around the clock, with thousands of tonnes of specially-treated salt ready to be spread. However, in conditions like this, even extensive gritting may not prevent treacherous roads, especially on routes not on the gritting network.

❗ Please take this warning seriously:
• Only travel if you absolutely must
• Allow extra time for journeys
• Drive to the conditions and leave extra space
• Take extra care on untreated roads

We will continue working day and night to keep key routes as safe as possible, but conditions overnight and into tomorrow will remain extremely challenging.

🎄A Christmas Message🎄

As Christmas approaches, I find myself reflecting on the many families I have met, sometimes sadly more than once, who have entrusted me with the honour of telling their loved one’s story this year. Each life shared and each moment reflected upon has been a reminder of the deep humanity that binds us all together in times of grief. Thank you for allowing me to walk beside you during some of your most darkest days and I hope I was able to shine a glimmer of light and hope into the future.

To the funeral directors who guide me toward the families who need support, your steady professionalism and compassion make all the difference. Your quiet coordination, care behind the scenes and your commitment to dignity are deeply appreciated.

And to all the staff who will be working throughout the Christmas period, in funeral homes, crematoria, cemeteries, offices and what many don't realise those who are on call - 'Thank You'. While others gather at home, you continue to serve with kindness and respect. Your dedication ensures that every family is held with the care they deserve, no matter the time of year.

May this Christmas bring each of you a moment of peace and the gentle warmth of knowing that the job you do truly matters.

Wishing you ALL a peaceful Christmas and a hopeful New Year.

When someone we love leaves this world, it’s not death that shatters us.
It’s everything that follows.

The empty chair. The unanswered calls.
The birthdays they’ll never celebrate, the dreams they’ll never chase.
It’s the memories that sneak up on us, the songs that suddenly feel too heavy to hear.

It’s the words we never said, and the moments we thought we had more time for.
It’s passing by their favourite places and realising they’re not just gone…they’re nowhere.
Their laughter fades, their hopes disappear, and their life…a life still unfinished, becomes a story we can only tell in past tense.

We question everything.
Did we love enough?
Could we have held on a little tighter?
But deep inside, we know, some goodbyes are written long before we’re ready.

When someone you love leaves, part of you leaves too.
A part you can never rebuild, a chapter you can never rewrite.
What remains is the hollow space they once filled…a silence that stretches on forever.
And sometimes, it’s not the goodbye that hurts the most…
It’s the life that should have continued…but didn’t.
