Hello, I’m Lois, and here is a little bit about me.
After many years working in the public sector, I decided a few years ago to take early retirement. This gave me the opportunity to explore a developing passion – Herbal Medicine.
I have always grown herbs in the garden, along with vegetables – mainly those usually used for culinary purposes. I had not at first realised their therapeutic potential, though I had always been an advocate for holistic health, wellbeing and nutrition. Then about 10 years ago I saw an advert for herbal workshops run by a qualified herbalist. This included a herbal walk, which completely opened my eyes to the abundance of nature – providing us with beneficial plants everywhere. These were the very same plants that I had been weeding up for years. Hooked immediately, I continued with regular workshops until recently, even after starting the B.Sc Honours degree in Herbal Medicine at Lincoln University.
One of the reasons I signed up to do the degree was because although I was proficient at making products from herbs and plant identification – I needed to know why they worked and more about their complex properties. I completed the degree course on a part time basis which allowed me the space to attend additional conferences and seminars, plus running our own workshops etc. This builds on my previous work experience which includes facilitating staff workshops, though on very different subjects. I have now been running my own herbal workshops for several years, and one of the things I so enjoy, is passing on knowledge and enthusiasm about herbal health, so that more people can get the benefits for themselves and their families.
Now as a qualified practitioner, I am also specialising in health and wellbeing for post menopausal women, developing personalised treatment packages to support individual patients. I am also a cofounder of Fenland Natural Health, a not for profit organisation engaging with the local community to promote health and wellbeing.

Hello, I'm Andrea Townhill and have been self employed with Divine Herbs and Therapies for the past 2 years. I started my career in accountancy, but have always had an interest in holistic therapies, organic gardening and looking after the wildlife.
After many years of growing a variety of herbs, vegetables and other plants organically from seed, I had developed a haven for the bees, butterflies, birds, rabbits, mice, shrews and any other wildlife that cared to visit. When my 4 children were old enough to look after themselves, I ventured back to college. I took an accountancy qualification and became a FMAAT (Fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians). Whilst working for an accountancy practice for 11 years, I returned to college and qualified in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Reiki therapies.
Then 5 years ago, I decided to follow my heart. I left my accountancy career and returned to study. This time, a university degree to become a medical herbalist.
I wouldn't say it was an easy decision to leave a steady job, with a regular income, but I knew that if I didn't take the plunge now, then I never would!
The 3 years of study, took me out of my comfort zone on a number of occasions, studying biochemistry, herbal therapeutics, anatomy and physiology, materia medica, history and philosophy, giving presentations and having 500 hours of clinical practice, but I achieved my "dream".
I now grow my own herbs plants to sell; I take herb walks, talks, workshops and apprenticeships; I give Reflexology, Reiki and Indian Head Massage treatments; I make a range of herbal products and I give Herbal consultations.
Who knows where it will leads you when you follow your heart, but you know it just feels "right".
