Do you get frustrated too when the scales are all over? One day it’s UP ⬆️ and the next it’s down ⬇️

There’s a reason for this. And as hard as it is to get our head around, it’s not fat gain.

some reasons for a scale shift ;

👉🏼 higher carbs = 1g carbs > 3g water
👉🏼 muscle cells swelling from training =water retention and full muscle bellies with a pump and fatigue
👉🏼 hydration - not drank enough or holding extra water In the body from a hot day?
👉🏼food volume - digestion from having higher food that are harder for the body to break down
👉🏼 sodium intake. Not enough or too much on your foods.
👉🏼 stress. Enough said.
👉🏼 alcohol- sugary/starch and dehydration or retention to compensate
👉🏼 bowel movements. Constipation and loose stools can alter the scales
👉🏼 the menstrual cycle can switch up the scales through different phases of a cycle

When we factor in any of these on a week to week and day by day basis we can use the data to analyse WHY our bodies may be up or down for random reasons. It’s not always a bodyfat rise just because there’s been a shift on the scales.

Ever get frustrated when you’re not getting results as quick as you want? You want results yesterday?!

There can be so many reasons why. Take a look at the list above and see if you relate to any of them.

Pay attention if you do a few of these, and then make a conscious effort to be aware of them. And then reassess once you’ve got these all in line or tried to work on them.

It’s a quick fire way to making sure you’re doing everything you can if fatloss is your goal.

Do you Understand your Menstrual Cycle?

Can you pinpoint roughly when you’re ovulating? When your cycle is bout to appear?

I can. I’ve spent YEARS monitoring my body, tracking my data. Paying attention to my mood, my sleep patterns, my appetite, my energy, pains and symthoms, etc etc,

Understanding your body, as a female is imperative to how you function and being able to put the peices of the puzzle together.

There are some complications with endometriosis and pcos symthoms that can throw cycles off, but managing and learning your body, can still help you, with fatloss, building muscle, trying to conceive, (or not!) and your general health and fitness.

It’s something I say to many women I work with. You SHOULD know your body inside out back to front. Work with your body, not against it!

You’ve got to be real sometimes and prioritise all factors, fatloss absolutely has its place. But if it becomes a hindrance to your happiness and life chasing those extra few lbs, losing it, gaining it, losing it, gaining it, you gotta ask those questions honestly.

“Is it really worth it for my lifestyle?”

This applies to chasing the scales in your everyday life. What is it serving you? Is it making me miserable in pursuit? What validation will this give me?

If it genuinely will make a world@of difference absolutely chase that. But if it won’t really make a big big impact on your life, then be honest, is it REALLY worth it?

31lbs down so far.

Sian has been in a growing phase with me since the start of the year when we set a training plan and high calories to build adequate muscle prior to dieting. We’ve been in a dieting phase since may and is a few weeks out from her show. Incredible transformation and it’s only the last few weeks preps becoming tough with calories coming down further and cardio output increased. Needs must when it comes to competitive bodybuilding and bringing the required conditioning for your chosen class. Sians a Junior Bikini Competitor and we’re being to stage a phenomenal look. The graft put in to get here is nothing short of amazing.

Head down for the final few weeks and it’s showday 🤌🏼🙏🏼🫡

Muscle building 😎💪🏼

Lauren and I have worked together for just over a year now. (See time stamps from checkins above photos)

The goal: to build muscle and get jacked. Then diet down.

The process initially as a coach for me, was to INCREASE Lauren’s calories as she wasn’t eating enough. Food was ramped up and then we did a mini cut half way through the year to tidy the physique and trial a prep style diet and see if it could be done. It could. She absolutely gets on board and cracks on with whatever is asked. She has a super busy lifestyle, being a mother to 2 teenagers, having a demanding job, and 4 dogs to care for takes up time but she always manages to tick her training box ✅ even if it’s 4am Gym sessions to fit it into her day.

The muscle difference is huge in a year. To shape Lauren’s physique to give her the choice to compete or not, the areas I chose to build mostly on Lauren are shoulders, back width, quads and upper glute. We got the result 💪🏼 Legs are shaped and have fantastic shape to them now, back is toned with a good amount of muscle. Shoulders are incredible and abdominals have been sculpted to create that small waist to hip ratio. The scale weight between pics is around 7kg of muscle difference.

We push to build until next year then reassess and decide if we want to prep and go for it 😎🥰😝

Refuel and we go again next week with even more food. His body was like a sponge so we know we’ve got conditioning on point, now we can fill up the tank even more ✊🏼🫡👊🏼

HUGE good luck to my client Adam today for his 1st show of the season, UKDBFA show (drug free natural federation)

A hard graft to get to today for him. Did what was asked from me, cracked on and brought the conditioning. From this show we’ll only get better. Have a bloody good day and enjoy every minute 🙌🏼👊🏼🙏🏼🏆

2nd Year working with both and for their Bodybuilding shows.

Both have made some incredible improvements since last year and I’m so excited for both of their upcoming shows we have planned for each athlete. 🙌🏼👊🏼

Rick and Adam have grafted so hard to both bring the condition for their respective classes, Rick is Masters Bodybuilding and some open classes (depending on fed) and Adam is a Junior Physique and mens physique, (again federation dependant)

Posing sessions and face to face checkin yesterday and hopefully, bringing what the judges are looking for and collect some trophies for you both🏆
