☀️ Protect your eyes from UV - not just your skin
We’re all great at remembering sunscreen… but how often do we think about protecting our eyes? 👀
Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun can damage the delicate structures of the eye over time - even on cloudy days. Without proper protection, long-term exposure may increase the risk of conditions such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, and even growths on the surface of the eye.
🕶️ What to look for when choosing sunglasses:
• 100% UV / UV400 protection (this is the most important feature!)
• Lenses that block 99–100% of UVA and UVB rays
• Polarised lenses to reduce glare - especially helpful when driving or near water
It’s not about how dark the lenses are - it’s about the level of UV protection they provide.
Whether you're driving, walking the dog, watching sport, fishing, or relaxing on holiday, protecting your eyes should be part of your everyday routine, all year round.
Sunglasses aren’t just a style choice, they’re a simple way to protect your long-term eye health.
