Sometimes, it can be hard to be mindful, to take a step back and appreciate the little things. Here are a few tips on how to be present and live in the moment:

1️⃣ Focus on the now. Living for the moment by practising mindfulness reduces stress, boosts your immune system, lowers blood pressure, and has other beneficial physical and mental effects.

2️⃣ Pay attention to small things. Notice the world around you. Be thankful for it. Living for the moment and taking notice of the small things will help you cultivate more positive experiences.

3️⃣ Slow down and be thankful. Every so often, take a moment to stop and think about everything you have and what you are grateful for. This will allow you to appreciate life a little more and will influence more positive thoughts throughout the day.

4️⃣ Don’t worry. It’s much harder than it sounds, but try to remember that worrying today won’t change what happens tomorrow. Every second you spend worrying about the future is a second of the present wasted. Worrying takes you out of the present moment and takes you into the realm of future possibilities. It is impossible to live in the moment and worry at the same time.

If you have something worrying you that you need to talk about, or you need help feeling more positive about a certain situation, talking to someone is the first step to changing your mindset and letting go of worries and anxieties 🌱

Through hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming, we can work together to begin to change your mindset and create positive, optimistic thoughts to help lead you to the life that you want. We can chat through your concerns and your goals and help you to overcome habits and allow you to move forward to start to live a much happier, more positive life.

Each day, catch where your thoughts tend to go. Do they focus on the positivity of what you have, people you love, things you have yet to experience?

It is so easy to get caught up on a roundabout of negative thoughts and be in a never-ending loop of doom and gloom. Be aware of what you spend most of your time thinking about - here are some ‘recovery thoughts’ that will help you out of the negative mind space you are experiencing in your head:

1️⃣ I have overcome so much in my life and I am so proud of myself.

2️⃣ When was the last time I really laughed and was truly happy? (Then relive this moment.)

3️⃣ Make a mental note of who and what makes you feel positive.

What do you do to get into a more positive and optimistic way of thinking? 💚

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a way of changing someone’s thoughts and behaviours to help achieve their desired outcomes. NLP uses perceptual, behavioural, and communication techniques to make it easier for people to change their thoughts and actions, as well as helping to treat phobias and anxieties.

Alongside hynotherapy, I also offer Neuro-Linguistic Programming sessions.

If you are tired of worries and phobias controlling your life and want to begin a journey to mental freedom, then get in touch 🌱

Sometimes it may be difficult to prioritise yourself, but it is so important to take some time for self-care and your wellbeing 💚 Taking some time to relax and unwind is key to reducing anxieties and worries.

During a hypnosis session, you undergo a process that helps you to relax and focus your mind. This state is similar to sleep, but your mind will be extremely focused and more able to respond to suggestion. This, in turn, can help you to relax and overcome stress in the future.

Covid-19 has been such an unknown time for all of us, with a lot of anxiety stemming from this new way of life and air of uncertainty. Life is changing all of the time, due to variation in restrictions and guidance. Here are a few tips for those feeling anxious or worried about going back out into the world again...

🌱 Take small steps. Don’t go straight from being in your home to getting on public transport every day. Start by going for a walk around your local area and becoming used to being outside and seeing other people.

🌱 Think long term: Ask yourself “Is this the way I want to live forever?” This should help you to have a moment of realisation that encourages you to think about the things that you are missing; seeing friends, family etc. It will allow you to think about the small steps that you want to take back to normality and should help ease anxiety.

🌱 Recruit a partner: Like most behaviour changes, reducing re-entry anxiety will be easier with a friend or family member who can support you and help you take more steps to a more normal life. You can, for example, start by seeing a friend in your back garden at a distance and then over time move to going for a walk together around a local park.

About Me - Dilys McFarlane

I make a positive difference to peoples' lives using hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). I trained with the Academy of Medical and Clinical Hypnotherapy and now work from a practice room in my own home. I am also a member of the National Council of Hypnotherapists (NCH) and am CNHC registered for Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy and NLP can be used to improve all aspects of life: from anxiety, stress and phobias, weight-loss, smoking cessation and more.

I became aware of the power of hypnotherapy over thirty years ago, when my GP suggested it might help me to give up smoking. Following that course of sessions, I have never smoked another cigarette. Since then I have used hypnotherapy to help with weight loss, lack of confidence and a phobia. In 2009 I attended a seminar run by one of the founders of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Richard Bandler; the hypnotherapist, Paul McKenna and Life Coach, Michael Neill, where I gained my NLP Practitioner’s Certificate.

I have worked with vulnerable people for some years, having been a Customer Services Adviser for Adult Social Care for the past ten years and prior to that, teaching English to speakers of other languages - mainly refugees and asylum seekers. This work required a high degree of empathy. Having retired from my job with Adult Social Care, I now have the opportunity to do something to help others, and what better way to do this than with hypnotherapy and NLP.

I would love to help you to achieve your goals and to make the changes you desire in your life.
