The tension we carry isn’t always from negative situations.

You see Barbara had friends visiting from N.Z and when you are hosting it can be fun and full on!

Barbara’s message is an awesome example of living Somatically, sensing her tension, sensing what she needed and giving herself the time and space to free herself of her tension and at the end of her practice along came her realisation “Finding Sanctuary for Self in Somatics”. I couldn’t have said it any better myself!

So excited to bring you this pop up event with my beautiful friend of 50 years 💕Caroline who is an incredible human and an intuitive sound healer and works with special needs children.

We’ve decided and are excited to combine gentle Somatic movements and with Sound healing to bring a deeply restorative and relaxing evening.

We want to make this as inclusive as possible, if you are able, please opt to “Pay it Forward” to support those on limited means.

Wow-wee! This weather 😎! Are you loving it or hoping for rain? I am doing both! I recently bought another water butt and since then it’s hardly rained at all, did I jinx the rain with my good intentions?

Despite the dry spell the young birds are thriving in my garden and the family of young starlings are making so much noise in my garden it sounds like a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock film! Sadly I saw a baby hedgehog out and about yesterday afternoon and I think they are looking for water, it’s now currently in my shed being fed and watered for a few days.

As mentioned in my video I took part in open day, it’s a great opportunity to try different classes and I was lucky enough to teach a class. It is inspiring to see the changes in students when they come back into standing (for those of you who have never taken a class, we nearly always start and end with a standing “Soma Scan” to sense and feel into how the practice creates change) and to hear they’re feedback.

Receiving feedback helps me to adapt and create classes and workshops and testimonials help me spread the word on Somatics and what I offer. I’d really appreciate your help, if you’ve attended a class,1:1, course, workshop or retreat if you would mind taking a moment to share your feedback or a testimonial? It would mean a lot and help others too.

Includes a great variation on a twist which brings length to the lower back and mobility to the spine. (I tried it out on my nephew yesterday and he loved it! ☺️). Links in bio to book a class.

Hello Somas!

I’ve had a short break from teaching my weekly classes so let’s get back to sensing and moving!

And I’ve certainly been doing that during my few days off, it’s certainly been an emotional rollercoaster, attending the funeral of my uncle, spending quiet time pottering in my garden then heading off to on Friday to teach at one of their retreats.

I met some wonderful women and took them through two very different journeys in Somatic movement and Chakra dancing. I also made some great connections and was also lucky enough to participate in some of the events that were included in their retreat. I explored a Soma Breath class with Alex from and had an absolutely fascinating introduction by Tara to Diamond Light Numerology which is based on the sacred equation of your birth date. I’m hoping to collaborate with both Alex and Tara in the future so keep a watch!

In Class this Week - Stepping Out

The theme this week is all around walking with flow and in comfort. So if you find you start with or during walking you get a ni**le or even pain when you walk then you will benefit from this class. This class is especially good if you are prepping for a marathon or charity walking event.

If you find you grind your teeth or hold tension in your jaw then this class is for you. You will realise how so much of the tension your hold in your jaw relates to the waist, shoulders, ribs and back, a simple class where you’ll get an embodied sense of how connected our movement/tension patterns are and how the simplest of movements can make changes.

Also, classes Resume this Friday and there is still time to book your place direct with them.

Hello Somas,

It was really lovely to see some of my online students join me live on Saturday for my Blissful and Blissed Out workshop, and to see some old and new faces. It was a fully booked event, which is exciting for me as my work and the work of Thomas Hanna grows

I’ve been trying to distill why I do what I do and ultimately, I hope I offer a space for people to feel a sense of comfort, more comfortable in themselves, with themselves and comforted by the movements and the teaching space I create.

Also I hope that students feel more confident, confident in their abilities to know that they can learn ways (like I did) to create more comfort, confidence to know how to create space and ease in themselves and their lives.

In Class this Week - Releasing Tension in your Jaw (neck and shoulders)

This class was really well received, it’s focus is a slow paced class to find and create more space in the joints, particularly wrists and ankles and of course along the spine and into the ribs, allowing more space to breathe! This class offers you the chance to create space within and a sense of “breathing space” in your day, which in turn, shifts your focus and perspective.

Hello Somas,

How are you doing? How has your week been? It really feels like we are “marching through March” doesn’t it? A bit quick for me, so today I’m feeling like I need to stay quiet (amid the admin).

I’m taking it slow and finding ways to find space, finding breathing spaces in my day and away from my desk.

The sound of birdsong shifting my focus from my laptop to the slightly wider world of my garden and a few minutes practicing on my frame drum are just two of my ways to do this. I’d love to hear how you find space in your days?

In Class this Week - Finding Space to Be
This class offers you the chance to create space within and a sense of “breathing space” in your day, which in turn, shifts your focus and perspective.

I’m sharing the practice that I’ve found helpful and needed this morning, it’s focus is a slow paced class to find and create more space in the joints, particularly wrists and ankles and of course along the spine and into the ribs, allowing more space to breathe! I hope you can join me.

How Can I Help You?

Hello, my name is Liz and welcome to Intelligent Movement Lincoln. Has your GP suggested you try Yoga? Or do you have chronic pain, tension or just want to feel more relaxed and ease in your own skin? Feel put off by the pretzel like poses you've seen or even tried? Intelligent Movement Lincoln is about simplicity and not surprisingly following your body’s inner wisdom. Intelligent Movement Lincoln offers Somatic Movement Education classes and clinical appointments.

Somatics Movement Education is a method that gently and effectively relaxes chronically tight muscles that cause pain, tension and affects your posture, mobility and gait. It is much like Yoga for improving movement, posture and deeply relaxing, yet simpler and more accessible, I should know, I’ve taught Yoga for over 13 years, but this method is so effective I now focus on teaching this and getting it out into the world! The movements are based on natural and instinctive patterns, that over time are lost or diminished due to tight muscles. Based on science, it basically gets to the core of all muscular movement, (your brain) by engaging the sensory/motor nervous system.
