Gemma's Childminding

Last week as usual was a busy one.

We enjoyed playing in the garden - practising our gross motor skills - riding the bikes, pushing the buggy, jumping on the hopscptch, crawling through the tunnel and climbing up and sliding down the slide.

We practised our mark making skills - we used chalk on the chalk board and on the patio - one of our favourite things is drawing around our friends as they lie on the floor when they stand up they add some facial features.

At the allotment we enjoyed planting some flowers.
We have been reading a story about planting a butterfly garden - they used seeds but we are still working on patience from the other seeds we have planted this week so we went with flowers (havent seen any butterflies yet but there have been bees).
As mentioned we have sown some vegetable seeds that will hopefully start to grow soon and when the soil is warmer they will go to the allotment.

We have enjoyed water play - lots of scooping and pouring. We also used the washing up liquid bottles to practice squeezing - the girls enjoyed trying to get me when shooting out the water. 💦

We enjoyed our song bag - the children enjoy picking an item from the bag and singing the song and doing the actions.

Caterpillar music was all about 'Spring'.

We have also had puzzles, books, roleplay and small world.

Never a quiet moment!! Xx

Last week we enjoyed time down at the allotment - its not time for planting yet but its nice to get used to our new environment.

It was Caterpiller music - it was all about colours.

We spent time in the garden exploring the sand, riding on the bikes, mark making with large brushes and water on the patio, throwing the basketball in the hoop, pulling faces in the mirror and small world play.

We have been some lovely walks , spotting the signs of spring and finding lots of ladybirds🐞

We also spent time inside reading stories, roleplay and working on our fine motor skills too xx

This week we have enjoyed walks spotting the signa of Spring.🌱🌼🌸

We have been mark making with paint and chalk🖌🎨

We have been practising our gross motor skills using and our fine ones too.

We have enjoyed small world play and role play.🚃 👩‍⚕️

Our Caterpillar music session was all about books🐛

Thursday was World Book day we enjoyed reading 'We're going on a bear hunt' - we went on our own bear hunt and explored the tuff tray🐻.
We also read some of the childrens favourite books from home 📚🏠

This week we have have been down to the allotment to enjoy some digging and finding worms 🪱

Whilst we were there I thought about how we could enhance the time we are there especially with the unpredictable weather and the extreme muddy conditions.

So I decided that putting wood chippings on the paths will make them more usuable for the children - whilst planting, watering the raised beds and riding on their tractors.
They still have a large digging area to enjoy with the gardening tools, wheelbarrows and diggers.

This afternoon I have spent a few hours (with some helpers). We have built the shed and covered the paths in the wood chip!!

Now let the fun begin.... xx

Today is World Book Day.

We will be exploring one of my favourite books and sharing the childrens favourites from home.

We have loved spending time outside this week.

We also had Caterpillar music on Tuesday - superhero themed.

Thanks to my band of helpers we have a fence!!! 🎉

Shame the water and mud are still quite immense 💦 lots of fun though 😊

Progress is being made.....

Compost arrived on Friday afternoon so I have spent this morning filling the raised beds.
Both gates are up, the next job is putting the fence up!!

Just need to rain to stay away so the very wet mud can start to dry out!!

Seeds will start to get planted over the next few weeks. When they have started to grow we will transfer them to the beds xx

Things are starting to take shape down at the allotment.

I went this morning with some help mates.

Still quite a bit to do and the mud needs to dry out but hopefully that wont take too long 🙏🤞🏻

Our pancake day fun!!

☆We explored the pancake batter.
☆We played with lemon scented playdough.
☆ We also made pancakes and had a go at flipping!! Xx
