Another busy week here and its been one that we have spent mainly outside - our favourite place to be!!

We have enjoyed walks in our local environment - spotting the wildlife in the leaft areas - ladybirds, bees, butterflies.
We are particularly fond of the dandelion clocks and all enjoy blowing the seeds and watching them flow on the breeze.

We have spent time down at the allotment - preparing the ground, planting our potatoes and starting construction on our bug hotel.
The seeds we have planted at home are growing nicely and will soon be heading into the ground when we are sure the final frost has been and gone!!

We have certainly made the most of playing in the garden - lots of water play, sand play, mark making, creating music on the music wall and small world play.

I am pretty sure everyone including me was exhausted at the end of every day!!

The fun begins again tomorrow!! Xx

Its been a quiet week at Gemma's house but we have kept ourselves busy!!

There was some excitement when we noticed that the French Shallots that we planted last week at the allotment have started to shoot 🌱

The seeds we have planted a few weeks ago have also started to grow so they will be planted at the allotment after the Easter holidays.

But now I will be spending some time with my family - see you all on the 21st April xx

We have had a week full of Easter themed activities.

We have read Easter books - 'There's a bunny in your book', 'There's a chick in your book' and a big favourite 'We're going on an egg hunt'.

We have enjoyed some spring walks and spent time at the allotment - ending the week with an Easter egg hunt.

Caterpillar music theme this week was Easter xx

Another busy week full of....

Walks,
Trips down to the allotment,
Roleplay,
Stories,
Mark making,
Messy play,
Caterpillar music,
Gross motor skills,
Fine motor skills,
Small world play,
Social skills development,
Communication skills,
Outdoor play and so much more.

I love watching these minds playing, learning and developing together. They are a great cohort for engaging with and encouraging each other during their play. They are full of ideas and imagination that I see increase every week.

No day is ever the same - we may have the same continuous provision but how they play is always changing.
Their skills are always developing and I enjoy seeing these changes happen - hearing the new vocabulary, watching them try hard at being able to achieve something new, getting braver with the sensory play.
Something that may seem small to us, can be really huge to them and to be able to see their faces and share their achievements is why I do the job i do. 🥰

Let’s make sure parents get their say!

Have you shared the parental survey with your families yet? It’s a great chance for parents to tell us what childcare is really like in their area and what they need more of.

You’ve already been sent an email with posters and a leaflet you can pass on, plus a suggested social media post to make sharing super quick and easy.

We have had a scarecrow day.

We have read scarecrow stories, sang 'di**le dangle scarecrow' and made our own scarecrow for the allotment.

I cant wait for us to take him to his new home hopefully tomorrow, weather dependent) and for him to help protect our future crops from the cheeky crows!! 🐦‍⬛

I have a range of resources and activities to encourage the children's growth, learning and development.
My setting is free flow to the outdoors this enables the children to access all areas.

Please feel free to get in touch if you think I can help with your childcare requirements.

Last week as usual was a busy one.

We enjoyed playing in the garden - practising our gross motor skills - riding the bikes, pushing the buggy, jumping on the hopscptch, crawling through the tunnel and climbing up and sliding down the slide.

We practised our mark making skills - we used chalk on the chalk board and on the patio - one of our favourite things is drawing around our friends as they lie on the floor when they stand up they add some facial features.

At the allotment we enjoyed planting some flowers.
We have been reading a story about planting a butterfly garden - they used seeds but we are still working on patience from the other seeds we have planted this week so we went with flowers (havent seen any butterflies yet but there have been bees).
As mentioned we have sown some vegetable seeds that will hopefully start to grow soon and when the soil is warmer they will go to the allotment.

We have enjoyed water play - lots of scooping and pouring. We also used the washing up liquid bottles to practice squeezing - the girls enjoyed trying to get me when shooting out the water. 💦

We enjoyed our song bag - the children enjoy picking an item from the bag and singing the song and doing the actions.

Caterpillar music was all about 'Spring'.

We have also had puzzles, books, roleplay and small world.

Never a quiet moment!! Xx

Last week we enjoyed time down at the allotment - its not time for planting yet but its nice to get used to our new environment.

It was Caterpiller music - it was all about colours.

We spent time in the garden exploring the sand, riding on the bikes, mark making with large brushes and water on the patio, throwing the basketball in the hoop, pulling faces in the mirror and small world play.

We have been some lovely walks , spotting the signs of spring and finding lots of ladybirds🐞

We also spent time inside reading stories, roleplay and working on our fine motor skills too xx
