Huge thanks to the amazing Physiotherapy team at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Lincoln Physiotherapy students for making our Aspiring Physiotherapy event a big success!

Delivered in Boston for the first time, the event welcomed young people aged 14–19 from across Lincolnshire. Attendees explored the essential skills and knowledge needed for a career focused on restoring mobility and independence for patients affected by injury, ageing or disability.

Here’s what some of our attendees had to say:
“I wanted to build up my physio work experience for uni and enjoyed the day very much.” - anonymous attendee

“I was inspired to attend based on my college course and having an interest in the field. I took away knowledge of different aspects of physio and experience speaking with students. I would encourage others as it is very interesting. I enjoy the practical aspects the most.” - anonymous attendee

“I was inspired to attend through my careers advisor at school, and I have taken away lots of new information about working as a physiotherapist, such as what fields there are. I would encourage others to join, and I really enjoyed the group activities.” - anonymous attendee

“The environment was friendly, and the people were lovely! I enjoyed learning about the different kinds of patients the physiotherapy team works with.” - anonymous attendee

A huge thank you to the doctors from the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Undergraduate Medical Education Department for supporting our flagship Aspiring Medics events at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, and Lincoln County Hospital.

Year 12 students from across Lincolnshire took part in clinical skills workshops and talks exploring what it’s really like to work in medicine. From learning practical skills to understanding ethics, confidentiality, patients’ rights, and professionalism, the day gave students an exciting taste of a career that truly makes a difference.

Here’s what our attendees thought:
“I always had an interest in medicine, and this consolidated that medicine is something I want to continue with in the future. I took away more knowledge about how patients are treated with dignity and the morals that align with it. Definitely recommend it for the clinical skills too, good taster.” - anonymous attendee

“Found out about the event when looking at the NHS Talent Academy website for work experience. First clinical skills exposure has made me more excited for a career in medicine. I would definitely recommend this day to others.” - anonymous attendee

“Great – Doctors and staff were so helpful. Very interesting, they all seemed passionate about their job.” - anonymous attendee
