Beacon Café in Waddington Now Open

The Beacon café has recently been opened by Acts Trust in partnerships with St Michael's church in Waddington. This is kindly funded by the veterans foundation.

Based on the Night Light cafe model the Beacon cafe is a wellbeing and connection space for Veterans, Serving military, Emergency services workers and adult family members, it is a place to chat and connect with like minded people, hosted by trained volunteers who have experience within these services. The Beacon Café is located in Waddington and is open on Tuesday evenings full details are on the flyer. People are welcome to turn up or they can self refer via the QR code on the flyer.

Health and Wellbeing Coaches help empower people who would like to make a lifestyle or behavioural change around their physical or mental wellbeing. These can include the following;
Managing low mood and mental health conditions.
Lifestyle changes around health, weight and moving more.
Improving self esteem and confidence.
How to manage long term health conditions.
How to manage and improve chronic pain conditions by improving lifestyle changes.

Paul and Shelly are both extremely committed to helping people improve their lives and both feel it is a hugely rewarding role.
They say 'As a health coach I have more time with my patients.
Patients can have sessions taking up to 30-45 minutes and these can be ongoing for up to 6 sessions. We work on what is important to our patients, we are here to help and support our patients to improve and move in the right direction by making small achievable changes that feel realistic and comfortable to them.'

From July, most women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 49 who test negative for HPV, meaning they are at very low risk of cervical cancer over the next 10 years, will safely be invited for cervical screening every five years instead of three, in line with major clinical evidence.
